i am trying to collect x-men from the bronze age (from around the time uncanny x-men introduced the new team through about 141). normally i go to comic conventions like wizard world on the first day to get first crack at dealer inventories. i keep hearing it's better to go on the last day when dealers are trying to minimize the inventory they have to take back with them. based on experience, has anybody here found that to really be the case? are the best deals truly gotten on the last day? thanks.

First day, last day? I don't know. The Con's I've been to the key is to talk to the Vender. Alot of them will give a deal if you buy a bunch. I once got $140 worth of comics for $100. Just by talking to the guy while I was going through his stash. Nothing spectacular comics wise, but I filled holes in. Don't expect great discounts , but you will get little ones.

It kind of depends what you're looking for. If you're looking for key issues like Uncanny X-Men #137, 94, 129, or any of the Dark Phoenix/Days of Future Past issues, I'd say your best bet is to try and find some of those the first day because they're more in demand.
Now if you're just looking to get any issues (94-141) in any condition, waiting until the last day and trying to barter with vendors might be a good strategy.
