N'Sync with the Rainbow (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,205688,00.html)

He should have come out sooner, but seeing as how he's got an upcoming sitcom--in which he plays a gay character--I see this as a smokescreen to publicize his television show.

I am happy for the young man. I think he made a forthright and noble choice to open himself to the world like this. I commend him for his honesty.

Also I hope his sitcom is a success. I recently saw Joey Fatone in Orlando and he was friggin great. He really impressed me with his range. This goes for Lance and all the other boy band stars...Many times we see only the pop side of them and we never really understand that these guys have lives and loves of so many various things on so many various levels we never notice them more than what seems a 2 dimensional creation by the powers that be

The rumours about he and Reichen(?) from the Amazing Race have been around town for months now. It's good for him, and for other people that he chose to come out. I'm glad it was by his own statement, rather than having photographs published in a tabloid, which would be far worse for him and his family.

Now :evilsmile WHO thinks he's the ONLY "Member of the Church" in N*Synch?

who didn't know this already??? Just like we all knew about Jonothan fron Who's the Boss.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)

Honestly, is anybody REALLY surprised?

I was also kind of irritated that, with everything going on in the world, MSN apparently found this story worthy of the front page. It's not even news! I mean, best of luck to him and everything, but does it really matter?

It's a good thing for queer youth, and it's nice to see someone choosing to live their life truthfully, but I think most people assume that most, if not all members of all boy bands are queer.

A friend of mine said last night, that Bass was one of two N*Synch-ers who came out, but I've not been able to find anything about #2. My guess is (as it long has been) that it's JC Chasez, but again, I've found nothing. I also thought it odd that one member of the band was MIA in terms of public statements. Maybe Kirkpatrick is retired, and just wants to stay away from it all, now.

I would vote Kirkpatrick more that Chasez... but JC was seeing Tara Reid at one point and Eva Longoria as well (though not concurrently).

Interesting. The reason I said Chasez, was because of a comment he made, on ET, I think, where they were talking about writing song lyrics, and hwo they just throw anything out at first, and it gets changed later, and one of the "throw-aways" was something to the affect of "...you boy..." which drew a raised eyebrow from one of the other guys (not Bass, I think Fatone), at the time. As for dating, that means even less than having been/being married, which especially in Hollywood means nothing at all!

Actually, I've heard something similar: that one of the Backstreet Boys had come out, but I've never seen anything to substantiate that, so I've just put it down as an urban myth.

Notice the "but" in the sentence.. refering to maybe dating the girls.. oh nevermind.. it's not worth it to explain a joke.

I read the People article (@ a news stand :p , I DIDN'T buy it), and I felt bad for his Mom. That's NOT the way to find out your son is gay! After he told his sister, he should've told his parents. Actually, I think you HAVE to tell the parents first, particularly if your in the public eye. If they find out, and from a sibling, then the sibling's in trouble for keeping something so big a secret.

He's not a smooth operator. Or he must be on the outs with his parents to find out their son is gay from media. He should have told them first, in person, months ago before he told the media.

He DID make a mistake in not telling his parents before he was outed, but you misunderstood. They knew long before People magazine this friday, but the rumours were out on the net. His mom was looking at something, and saw one, then googled, and found tons. She went to his sister, and asked if it was true. His sister had already been told, and said, "Yes."

Lance Bass...

is STILL gay.

Interesting tidbit. I read that the relationship he had with that model guy is all but over.

And the real reason that Bass came out was because Lehmkuhl pressured him, in order to gain publicity for his upcomming book. Lehmkuhl did strike me as rather naricissitic.

If that's true that's digusting.

How ya been Mia?

Him and Chip seemed pretty decent on the Amazing Race.

I never really thought Lance was gay, though I did often joke that he always looked stoned. Just check out almost any picture of him. :)

I never caught their appearance. But when I did do some reading about Lemkhul on the net it said that part of their motivation was to show that not all gays were like the guys on 'queer eye for the straight guy' (take that that whatever way you want). Lemkhul also said his dream is to be on the 'Young and the Restless'.

But after what I've read he's beggining to remind me of one of those 'perfect husbands' you see on tv who lead neferious double lives.

Years ago, I read an interview with some Canadian boy band (can't remember the name). And they spilled some interesting stuff. They said all the 'Backstreet boys' were straight. But at least one member in N'Sync was gay. Brittney Spears is really nice and Christina Aguilera is a bitch.

Well, in love and entertainment, things can be strange. Let's hope this isn't as devious as it sounds.

I'm more surprised that this many people knew the names of more than one guy in a boy band.

Where'd you read that? It's possible that Lehmkuhl pressured him for publicity, but there's a golden rule of gay relationships: Never date anyone more or less out than yourself! It just doesn't work, and if you look at that picture in People of the two of them walking down the street, with a woman, practically on Reichen's arm, and another between she and Bass, who looke like he happens to be walking ahead of them, oblivious to their proximity, Reichen looks pissed!

Someone so forthrightly out is NOT going to be happy with beards around, and I wouldn't be either. At some point, you have to be who you are, with the person you care about, or let them find someone who can be what you can't. Anything else is just unfair.

I've never met Brittney Spears, but Christine Aguilera was quite nice when she went through my terminal in my TSA days.

Chris was dating a girl for years and years and when they broke up, he went into a depression. [and just for the record, he's got a band in Orlando right now called Nigel's 11..so he's not exactly retired, but no one cares about him..haha]

JC however, as much as he dated Tara and Eva, he wears toe rings, and had dated a man at one point [but he claims he didn't know 'she' was a man until after they broke up.]

and Athena, I agree about Howie :p

and I think Lance came out now because Perez [of PerezHilton.com (http://www.perezhilton.com)] had outed him in way back in september..

yes...I know far too much about them...but hey..I was 12 when they were huge..so what do you expect.

That doesn't mean much. Reichen (?) and Bass were "dating" Jamie Lynn Sigler and some other famous actress (Jessica Biel?) a few months back, too.

These women, or men in some cases, are called "beards".

Lance Bass, of N'Sync, is gay

Told you he was gay, now we just have to wait for the rest of them to come out of the closet.

I knew from the first time I saw the group that someone in there was gay.

Lance may have been "dating" someone, although Last I heard, Jamie Lynn Sigler was still Jamie Lynne DeScala, unless she and her husband split up; but Reichen's been OUT bigtime, since long before the Amazing Race!

Lance was the poster child for gay people. I mean he looked so well groomed with his tweezered eye brows. Kind of funny saw him on a vh1 special about the 90s saying a girl was hot wonder if that was before or after he came out.

Jamie-Lynn DiScala nee Sigler is currently going through divorce proceedings from her husband AJ DiScala

If it was in the 90's, Bass wasn't out. He said in the "Us" interview, that he'd had relationships with women, and when your'e that young, the idea of sex is more of a turn-on than with whom, so...

Too bad about Jamie Lynn. Divorce/break-ups really suck, generally even if it's what you really want!

Hey...here's an idea. How about you stop giving a shit about celebrities? It's fucking stupid!

I don't care if Tom Cruise is crazy, I don't think he really is, I don't care if Britney Spears drops her baby, I don't even care about the damn baby, and I especially don't care if anyone from a shitty boy band fucks men, I wouldn't even care if he rapes dogs up the ass!

What is wrong with people, effin celebs are no more important than anyone else...

Edit: Before anybody starts trying to fight with me, I was talking about America in general, not anybody on the forums.
