I just got cable again recently after not having it for a few years. I still love the Behind the Music stuff on VH1. There was a marathon last night of The History of Metal. I could not stop watching. I think VH1 actually has more music on it then MTV now. MTV sucks. No music, ever hardly.

The really good stuff is on VH1 classic where they just rerun all their stuff from before they became the reality TV network.

Try Fuse Tv, it is kind of a mix between MTv and VH1 with a little more irreverance. They play alot alternative/heavy music and some of their shows are quite entertaining...in a weird way.

I actually enjoy some of the reality shows. :o But both VH1 and MTV have so little music overall now. I only get basic cable so I can't get other channels like MTV 2. Bastards.

You could go on-line and view them, I think.

If only I had DSL. I have slow dial up so one video takes like a half hour to load. Oh well. Guess I'm stuck with reality show marathons on VH1 and MTV for now. LOL.

Hey now, that's a not a bad thing in saome cases. The new Celebrity Fit Club comes on in a few days. I know, way retarded concept but strangely addicting.

Neither VH-1 or MTV are close to being the music focused channels they were in the past. I don't watch MTV and VH-1 has been off my radar for a few years now.

VH1 is not what it used to be. It is owned by MTV now. Both show few hours of music programming now unless you wake in the middle of the friggin night.
Fuse is pretty good & IMF if you have dish network are good for pure music programming. VH1 classic when it has the blocks of video really take me back but I just can't seem to sit and watch for very long anyway. Must be getting older...

I really like VH1 - I am psychotically obsessed with all their I Love the shows. Except Toys. Haven't seen that one. Flavor of Love was a guilty pleasure. I always liked the Celebrity Fit Clubs, Surreal Lives 3-6 were very watchable, and I'm addicted to So NoTorious (which thankfully comes out on DVD this October). And I really love those Metal programs and the Hip-Hop documentary series. And I really love those Metal programs and the Hip-Hop documentary series.

Do they still do the Storytellers show? I haven't really watched the channel in a while--save for some of the documentaries, like the hip hop ones--but I always liked the concept of that show.

Yeah, they just had Pearl Jam on a couple weeks ago. Not too many stories, though, they only did three songs in the entire hour show. Many, many commericals.

I loved early VH1, when it was the next step for the first generation. MTV has abandoned music and their audience. While I'm a bit older than most of my friends in LA, I dont' know of anyone who watches either regularly. If they do watch, they really don't talk about it, which is a significant change from what used to be the cutting-edge, hot-topic-of-conversation channel.

May was Metal Month on VH1 and there was some really good stuff on there.
I don't watch either channel that much, but I do have to say that I am enjoying the "World Series of Pop Culture" on VH1.
