In other words, you're asking if people want to have their games suddenly interrupted for no good reason by a cataclysmic event that brings the entire game to a close, thus rendering everything you did before saving moot?
And you actually think you don't already know the answer to that?

Could you repeat the question?
Perhaps in something resembling English?

Well, they did somewhat pull it off in Chrono Trigger

Many games have an apocalyptic theme or are set in a post-apocalyptic setting:
-Fallout (PC): Set after a nuclear war. The player -as a survivor- must contend with the broken and twisted environment in which he now must live.
-Operation Flashpoint (PC): In 1985 a rogue Russian General siezes control of a remote Island chain. The US forces stationed there are quickly overrun, sparking an international incident. World War 3 is only a few weeks away. If you see the flash, it's already too late.
-Chromehounds (XB360): Again, set after WWIII.

In We Love Katamari, you're tasked with saving the Earth from being struck by a supermassive meteor. You do this by turning all the countries on the surface of Earth into a ball and blocking the meteor with it. One may ask, then, what is the point? But the Katamari does not care for such things as "making sense."

Well, they did somewhat pull it off in Chrono Trigger No, what he's talking about is more akin to having Lavos show up and blow everything to hell in the middle of Madden 2007.

That would be pretty awesome.
