I've been hearing a lot of good things about the show, and everyone seems to like it. However I must ask is it designed for children?
I'm fifteen years old would I be able to enjoy this cartoon? Thanks for your help.

Well, I'm 30 and I enjoy it, but in the end that means nothing really. It was a Saturday morning cartoon, and it had some of the best Batman stories you can find anywhere.

If we're talking about the Paul Dini / Bruce Timm animated series, then, yeah, I think if you like Batman, then you'll love the show. I'm fortythree, Dancer, and I think it's one of the best treatments of Batman ever, certainly far better than ANY of the celluloid / tv offerings so far ( and given how good Batman Begins was, that's no small feat there ). And as far as being aimed at kids goes, then, yeah, it probably is, but I can't see where that matters. It's a great show, Dancer. Enjoy.
If we're talking about the new thing that's doing the rounds at the moment, The Batman, then give it a miss, fella. It's diabolical.

The 90's Batman the Animated Series is an absolute work of art, it really is. It is aimed at kids but somehow manages to very entertaining on higher levels.
The characters are well rounded with great back stories and beautifully rendered. There's even one with Adam West voicing an old TV serial crime fighter called the Grey Ghost, who Batman based himself on. The actor who played the Grey Ghost has not been able tyo get an acting job since and has fallen on such hard times he's down to selling his personal memorabilia. This is so like Adam West's own experience, which gives it all that much more wait. Kids wouldn't get that, but older folks did.

Seconded!! Paul Dini/Bruce Timm series basically re-wrote American animation and *is* the best rendition of Batman.

This show debuted when I was like 11 or 12 and I thought that it was a great interpretation of Batman then and still do now. You cannot go wrong with this show, its the reason why we got Superman TAS, Justice League, and JLU.

Pretty much any 90s era animated DCU 'toon is a work of art. Batman: TAS, Superman, and Batman/Superman Adventures had some of the best writing in animation ever, and are well worth your wait.
The current, Japanese-ization Batman 'toon on the WB, however? No so much. A fairly wussy Bats and horrible villain redesigns are just the top of what turns out to be some just plain god-awful scripts aimed to hard at 5 year olds.

The show re-defined the way the world thought of Batman. Blending all the best elements from the various comics and some brilliant original ideas. (The Phantasm, Harley Quinn... among others.) Added to the awesome animation techniques that were used, the excellent casting and voice-acting. On top of some deep, well developed character writing...
And you have arguably the greatest dramatic television series in history. (Not just the greatest cartoon.)

Yes. Batman: The Animated Series is fantastic. I made sure to buy every single episode now that they're out on DVD. I think 'work of art' is quite a proper word for it.
It is the quintessential Batman. They distilled Batman from years and years of stories and made a great Batman.
The Superman cartoon they did was also good. Though I want to say Batman is a bit better, but that's maybe because I'm more of a Bat fan.
I think these are up there as pinnicles of animation like the old Fleischer Bros Superman toon. I would love to see a definiative collection of those. I've seen some DVDs, but am unsure of the quality.

I'm 32 and Batman The Animated Series is excellent.
Now that new thing on WB is not.
