The original one for me, it made the character popular, a timeless design without to much bling, Ditko did it right.

Or maybe "what one did you hate?" I think spidey has had some of the coolest suits. I remember one that I had as an action figure when I was a kid, though I don't remember when/where the suit came from, that was just like his classic but was black and red. It was pretty sweet

Symbiote Black is the best.

Shame its not like Normie's Symbiote in Spider-girl, ie not insane.

Iron Spidey is good in principal, he should have better costume that just Homemade Spandex

Especially if he runs with the Avengers and goes to The FF's place for Dinner with his family.

But that saying he should have a Red and Blue Symbiote, that ways everyone is happy.

It would make him about the only Superhero in the 2 main Universes (Marvel 616 and DC, plus all of Marvel's lesser verses) with an Organic Costume.

Don't put him back in Spandex put him back in the Symbiote.

a New Symbiote, it has been shown that when a Symbiote reprodcues is basically takes the personality of the first person is bonds with. Carnage bonds with Psycho Cassidy and looks like someone turned inside out, Toxic bonds with an Ex-Cop or something and looks sort of like Spidey from the descriptions I have read.

Or maybe have Toxic killed in Civil War and it bonds with Spidey.

Spandex is alright for Ultimate Spidey and Young Spidey, but modern 616 Spidey runs with the bigboys and should not have the craptastic spandex costume.

Also Iron Spidey vs Iron Man, Iron Man wins with a press of a button.
Spandex Spidey vs Iron Man he still wins.
Now think of Symbiote Spidey vs Iron Man.

Has Joe Quesda got an e-mail address?

I gotta admit i Love the old school costume but Symbiote has been my personal fav. Even in issues that spidey's not actually using the symbiote costume but its just cloth modeled after it I still love the design.

But old school spidey ftw though. Symbiote comes second.

Ben Reilly's suit is one of the best but I'm gonna have side with the good old classic one from Kirby.

1. Classic Kirby: Most recognised suit next to Superman
2. New Red and Gold: A few too many gagets but looks very cool.
3. Ben Reilly's: Cool Enough.
4. Black Suit: SYMBIOTE!!!
5. 2099: Looks a little wierd, spikey like.

While Kirby drew the cover to Amazing Fantasy 15 the classic suit was designed by Ditko.

Kirby was just asked to redo the cover because the one that Ditko did was not very eye catching.

1) Scarlet Spider: The red suit, blue hoodie, and web shooters on the outside. I don’t know why but this is by far my favorite.
2) Spider-Man 2099: At first I thought it was one of the ugliest but the more I see it the more it grows on me.
3) Symbiote: I think most can agree that this is one of the greatest costumes.
4) Ben Reilly: I never realized this one was so popular.
5) “Classic” Spider-Man: Ok I wasn’t sure what to call it but it is his normal suit without the armpit webs.

Yes I was doing my top five. Sixth place would have gone to the original Iron Spidey costume. Silver and Black look great together but they really didn't do anything else with the costume.

The gold on the costume really annoys me. Yellow/Gold is one of my least favorite colors and when it is with a lot of red I hate it more. Maybe someday it will grow on me. For now I would rank the Amazing Bag Man costume much higher than the current Iron Spider. If the color scheme was different it would rank higher.

I first must confess I do not read Spider-Man anymore, and haven't for quite some time. I am not opposed to change, and some of those suits I've seen people post on this thread are pretty cool... especially the black and white one. Still, I must cast my vote with the original if the choice is between his new "iron man" suit and the red and white threads he's worn through most of his career, and with which he is most iconically associated.

Why am I not so hot on the new suit?

1)I detest the extra arms. They look awkward and ungainly. Actually they look like they do not even belong, like he has some sort of disease. If the latest suit is to be the new suit then at least scrap those unsightly arms.

2) The colour scheme just doesn't work for me. Red and gold is great for a guy who wears shiny armour and whose milieu is the bright daylight and whose ethos has ever cast him as an up front dedicated team player. This is Iron Man. But red and gold are the least suitable colours for a hero, who makes his haunt the murky alleyways of the night. Who has always had a bit of the anti-hero edge to him. Spider-man has always been a nocturnal hero. The new duds just paint him as Iron Man junior. I know he is an Avenger now (another move I dislike), but if Spider-Man still has any of his old loner noir characterization left (I don't know... does he?) then I feel he must have a costume somewhat more individual and less garish in colour, and not just that of an Iron-Man knock-off. The black and white suit is, as I've stated, pretty suited to Spider-Man's traditional conceived place in the MU. However, I have always thought it looked a bit, I don't know, trendy and subsequently now, too much of its time. Not that there is anything inherently wrong with the late 80's or 90's, but ironically much of what has come from that period strikes me as even more dated than something classicly rooted, and that is able to maintain its currency, precisely because of its uniquie ownership of its classical staus. Red and blue are also to me a great colour combination. They look great on Superman (I was also skeptical about Supe's black and white phase), and I think they look the same on Spidey.

3) Spider-Man should not have any armour whatsoever. Yeah, it raises him a class or two or three in strength, and shores up some of his vulnerability, but it also diminishes some of the classic Spider-Man "everyday guy" derring-do image that many of us have come to love. I have always taken to the idea of guy in the simplest and least fortified of costumes just leaping helter-skelter into the fray, and relying on wits, extreme agility and heroic courage to carry the day. Spider-Man should not be encumbered by extra flailing appendages, busy armour or other distracting contrivances.

Lee's and Ditko's vision of Spider-Man I feel is the winning vision, and the winning costume was married to it some 46 years ago.

Ok... thanks.

I have to disagree. Sure Spidey's had lots of adventures at night, but just as many during the day. Don't you remember all of the times Spidey would have to skip out on Gwen, Harry, MJ, and Flash when they were jsut hanging out on the ESU campus? Or when he had to fake falling overboard a boat when someone like the Tarantula attacked? Sure these are just a couple of specific examples, but the list goes on. Point is, I don't think it's fair to say that Spidey's primarily a night-dweller.

Well, you are right of course. I didn't mean to suggest that Spider-Man is solely a creature of the night, Dracula style. He per force comes out to play under grey skies, bright skies, starry nights and summery days... wherever there is a hang up you'll find the Spider-Man. I guess I had a more figurative sense of the guy in mind. Despite being a hero he was the embodiment not of a lion or an eagle or any other noble creature caught proud in the gleam of light, but of a spider... not exactly the avatar of hero worship. Spider-Man has always had a creepy side to him, and has seen fit, until the most recent days, to hide in the shadows of a secret identity. While his day adventures may be of equal to his night adventures I think the essence of the character comes through while the world sleeps, but prowling crooks and evil doers. The gold and red costume I was simply suggesting seems out of sync with this quieter night-image of Spider-Man. I place Spidey alongside Daredevil and maybe Batman in my hero thinking, rather than say Iron Man or Superman. Thanks for your thoughts though.

I actually like the IronSpidey look, plus from a tactical standpoint it makes sense. Extra appendages for grabbing or attacking, all the different sight modes, stealth mode, it can look like other costumes, and it's bulletproof, oh and it has a butt-kicking button. I also think it fits Spiderman more than his other costumes, don't get me wrong I love classic Red and Blue Spiderman, but Spidey is a happy hero regardless of the tradgety in his life he fights villians with a un/funny depending on which side you are standing on quip, plus most of his battles appear to take place during the daytime. He's not Moon Knight, I don't think he needs to look menacing. Thats why I don't like peter in the Symbiote either, love it on Venom, hate it on Pete, too dark for a funny guy. To me Spidey is a humanist first a crime fighter second, so he doesn't need to look scary just functional. Plus I actually kind of like the suit's look, it's grown on me.

I agree with this very much. This guy knows his books.

1.Classic Spider-Man Red and Blue(Only Todd McFarlane drawing that is with the webs underarmpits.
2. Unlimited Spider-Man. I think that it just needed better artist for it. Some one that could give it an edge.
3.Black and White. I always thought it should of just been worn at night. It gave him more of a stealth look.
4.Spider-Man 2099. Just looks bad a**
5.Scarlet Spider-Man. With the sleeves ripped off and the hoody. It made him look like he was more of a hero with an attitude.
6. Ben Reilly costume when he took Spider-Man's job for a while.

Do anyone besides kel 25 remember the first armor suit that he made in the 90's. It was black and silver. But I thought it was pretty cool.
