Is there anything to be said about them being nominated at all, particularly for the very episode certain folks did not want re-aired?
ANIMATED PROGRAM (less than one hour)
"Camp Lazlo," (Hello Dolly / Over Cooked Beans,)
"Family Guy," (PTV)
"Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends," (Go Goo Go,)
"The Simpsons," (The Seemingly Neverending Story,)
"South Park," (Trapped in the Closet,)
My money's on Foster's.

It doesn't have a chance at all.
It has the same chance as Robot Chicken winning....well, anything.
Considering that the series has one at least two other times, I don't see any reason why it can't win again.

Yes, but it's competing with one of the best episodes of a cartoon in almost a decade...
Go Goo Go!
Ok...slight exaturation there :P

Let's see. South Park is taking on a show that is on the downhill, a show that IS downhill, and two kid shows, with one made by the creator of "Rocko's Modern Life".
But, then again, that episode that was nominated is the most memorable of the five episodes shown. I've seen "Foster's" and "Camp Lazlo" (both VERY intresting, but I like Lazlo more), but not those specific episodes. I do recall "The Seemingly Neverending Story", but it was mostly a wandering plot because everyone had a story (even the bighorn sheep). In the end, that set of stories was, in fact, a story itself. Intresting plot, just didn't completly fall in place.
As for "PTV", it just shows how the creators of Family Guy rule out decency in any aspect. I don't hate Seth MacFarlane, nor the fans of the show; I just think it sucks.
So, it'll be "South Park".

South Park won a Peabody award a few months ago.
I'd say it's got a dang good shot.
But Simpsons will probably win (doesn't it usually anyway?)

i watched the episode again when it aired...and it's just brilliant...i like family guy and that was a pretty funny episode and i love the simpsons, and though it's pretty much hit or miss these days on that show...they haven't put out anything in the last 2 years to rival south park...the only thing coming even close enough or just as good is the "return of the king' ep. of boondocks...but because of the nature of awards in hollywood...it would seem unlikely it would win.

I think the fact that it was nominated, let alone for that ep, is just amazing! The award will, as usual, go to the least challenging of the bunch.

The sucky part about the whole Emmy thing this year is that South Park has had about 3 better episodes than the one that was nominated. Its dissapointing that they only submitted one.
IMO, Foster's Home is one of the most boring shows Ive seen this year. I cant speak for that specific episode but the ones I've seen are pretty annoying. I dont remember laughing and any point whil watching it.
Lazlo is aimed for little kids isnt it? Thats what I always thought. The jokes always seemed so juvinile and lame.
I cant believe Family Guy was even nominated. The show is funny, but i dont really think "side-boob" takes a lot of brain power. It has really been going down hill since it returned.
Honestly, I cant remember the Simpsons episode. I think the show has gotten pretty bad over the last few years and is only now just starting to recover, but I cant speak for this episode.
I guess out of this list South Park has the best chance.

Well, the Cartoon Wars episodes were way better. It actually said something that hadnt been said before. Some of the best satire that they have done.
Also there was the Death of Chef. That was one of the most clever episodes of any show Ive ever seen. It was a way to get rid of the character of Chef while at the same time sticking it to Scientology in a fun and original way.

i'll cede the "the death of chef" ep...but the cartoon wars...eh, not so much...i mean it was funny, but i think it tried to do too much...does that make sense??...

Well, the Cartoon Wars was saying something that hadnt been said. It wasnt making fun of the same things you see on Best Week Ever each week, it had something original to say and it said it. On the other hand, "Trapped in the Closet" was just another kick in the balls to Scientology and Tom Cruise. It was too easy. Its almost like if they made a "Brokeback Mountain" episode, there is just no real talent in it. I just think that originality should be worth something.

i think i liked it more because it just seemed to flow better in terms of all of the different elements meshing together, cartoon wars wasn't quite as smooth for me and plus TitC clowned r. kelly too...which is always aces w/ me ...he's an asshole.

I wonder how the nomination system works. Best drama or best comedy works as the producers send in their choice single best episode of the season. I know some say Lost didn't get in as best drama this year because the producers sent in the season opener instead of, say, the "Tailies Episode".
I don't recogonize any of the nominees by their episode titles....can anyone do a plot summery of each?

Hell no! South Park should never win an emmy! It would have to clean up its show for that!

And being what they are is what earned them a Peabody Award.
It just strikes me as odd that this particular episode is the one nominated. Is someone, or a group trying to send a message to Tom Cruise, or to all actors? Is South Park being recognized because of the Peabody, with the Emmy's saying, yeah we like you too?
I don't think it has a chance of winning, but the whole situation seems conveniently fishy. Maybe it's a ratings stunt.

Do people really consider that a real award??
More than you know.
"The Peabody Awards are generally regarded as the most prestigious awards honoring distinguishment and achievement within the fields of broadcast journalism, documentary making, educational programming, children's programming, and entertainment."
Meaning, no schlup from any television program or studio, with any bias or money involved in determining what show gets the award. No magazine or internet critics are on this commitee, seeking payback because of whatever insult was tossed their way by particular actors or writer.
The award is presented by people who study, document, and analyze television and radio, and their affects on society, and has been done that way since 1941. Ratings do not matter, popularity does not matter.

Calling celebrities gay. Groundbreaking work.
It's a sad that Family Guy, Simpsons, or South Park are nominated at all. They are utter garbage.
But does South Park deserve it??
Yes.
The show is a near perfect combination of intelligent, nuanced comedy mixed with the grossest, low humor imaginable. And it manages on a regular basis to both be outrageously and daringly hilarious, while still making some very telling and well thought out points about society, politics, religion and everything else in the human condition.
And in all honesty there really are just not a lot of other programs, movies, books or songs that you can say that about.

Sorry I cant see hollywood letting an episode where they make fun of scientology get any recognition. I will also go with Fosters its a real cute show.

it goes beyond that...around that time cruise haqd been going around getting in other people's business and telling them what they should and shouldn't do and just being a total asshole...and basically they gave him a school yard smack down in the best possible way...he's not god, from the point of view of an outsider, his religion seems ridiculous, so what gives him the right to try and impose those beliefs on others, and should therefore be satisfied w/ his celebrity because he's not a very good actor and keep his big mouth shut cuz there other people out there smarter than he is who can bring him crashing down...i think that pretty much covers it...:D

Do people really consider that a real award??
Technically, it is.
However, since it is NOT handed out live, and instead a few days ago in a small building with no show around it, to many, it isn't.
