Wow, that was really underwhelming. The whole time I watched it I was expecting them to cut to something else, but instead I got a minute of watching them run and then pose. The Transformers Trailer has more going for it than this one I'm sorry to say.
That trailer really didn't show me anything I wanted to see to make me think this movie will be good. I want to see how the humans look and I want to see people talking.

I saw it without the audio (I'm at work...).
They look more like the Laird and Eastman Turtles then other adaptations which is kind of neat. I thought this was originally going to be a mixture of CGI and live action though. I guess since this is animation they could do a whole lot more in terms of story and characters. Anyone know what this one is about? Or is it another origin story?

Exactly. It looks WAY better than the live action. I love the fact that they look like the Eastman stuff.

I liked it.
Wasn't it supposed to just be a teaser anyway?
It seemed like it had a nice balance between the Eastman/Laird and the Saturday morning cartoon tone.
Besides, in the day and age, you kind of already know if you want to see or not see a new Ninja Turtles movie.

I kind have a soft spot for the first one. It was pretty faithful to the comic.

Hey, the damn suits rocked! (except in the third one).
This might just be me being nostalgic, but I liked the suits.

I just read that this one is supposed to take place after the second movie. As teasers go, I did find it cool, and thought it did a great job capturing the feel they seem to be going for, gritty and action packed with some nice character humor added in.
And I hear Mako is voicing Splinter, so you know it will be awesome.

I just wish they'd fought enemies against whom all four of the turtles could actually use their weapons, instead of just two of them B)

I thought it looked pretty good, the animation was clean and they looked like they are going to keep some of the funny elements from the tv show. If they don't over do the comedy I think it could work.

80s nostalgia is in full swing. Transformers, old school Dragonlance and TMNT movies in the works.
Anyway I really like TMNT (both the cartoon and the comics), but there isn't enough in the trailer for me to know if I'll like it. As far as the old costumes went Jim Henson's company did those...so its not like they were bad.
In the article on CBRs front page it said that Shredder is not going to be the villian...who will be? Triceratons? Those aliens that Krang is modeled after? Baxter Stockman? That will be interesting.
Who is Mako?

Mako certainly has an extensive resumé. Thanks for the link Stretch Dude. I consider myself somewhat more enlighted.

I really loved it. I didn't notice until after a moment that those were the old Eastman and Laird designs, but darnit, they look really good animated like that.

Aaaaaiiiiiieeeeeeeeee!!
I am so excited!
I just read that this one is supposed to take place after the second movie.
It actually takes place after the first one, but uses some of the continuity from the second one - luckally, not much.
Don't get me wrong, it was a good film - not nearly as good as the first one - but still good, but it seems to be one of the worst continuity screw-ups ever.
Biggest thing being: at the end of the first film, it was still the first night returning home from the farm. April still didn't have a new place yet, and she was just hired back into the news station. At the beginning of the second film, she had been in a new apartment for what looks to be the course of a few months at least, and April had apparently been on the news again for awhile. Why is this a problem? The second film was supposed to take place 24 hours after the first one (or around that at least... You can see Splinter reading a news paper talking about the shennanigans that happened at the end of the first one.)
Also - The shredder gets crushed by a trash compactor, and then is all better again? I call hax. Although, I gotta say... Kevin Nash did do a good job as the Super Shredder. :)
Okay I'm done nerding. For now.

Thank god for Youtube.
Looks good. Animation is clean and gets the job done. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm just glad this movie is actually being made. For a while, I thought it was going to be scrapped with the lack of news. Hopefully it will all turn out well.
That said, the trailer looked really good to me:D

I kind prefer the comic Turtle characters. I wouldn't mind seeing the Ultroms though (who the aliens that Krang was based on who also were heading the company that created the mutagen that created the Turtles).
I'm hoping we are getting Baxter Stockman and The Mousers or the Tricertons.

Since it's an animated movie wouldn't he have done the voice work already.

For the most part. This was posted at the official TMNT web site (www.ninjaturtles.com).
Several people have written in with the tragic news that Makoto "Mako" Iwamatsu passed away this past Saturday. Mako was a revered actor throughout his long career, from playing prominent roles in major feature films to providing voices for numerous animated characters. Mr. Iwamatsu was cast as the voice of Master Splinter for the upcoming computer animated TMNT movie. The major part of his dialog for the Turtles film was recorded, however, the ADR (Additional Dialog Record) was not. ADR recordings are used for any extra lines that writer/director Kevin Munroe might want to add or for retakes of existing recordings. At this time we don't know how they will handle the ADR tasks. Mirage Studios extends our sincere condolences to all friends and family of Mr. Iwamatsu.

Stop bashing the suits, they were amazingly realisitic for the time and alot more realistic than the CGI.
IMHO, this is a mistake. They will be unable to surpass the greatness if the first movie and im pretty sure its going to be corny.

Speaking of which, has anyone seen the new season of that stupid cartoon? Now granted, I largely stopped caring about TMNT back in the days when Eastman and Laird sold it, it was a cute idea but it got really old, really fast, but my wife is still a fan of the 80s and she's been getting the TMNT series. The first four seasons were reasonably alright but this whole Fast Forward crap is just AWFUL! Holy crap, who thought this was a good idea?
Ah well, as my wife says, it's obvious this will be the last season, you can hear the chest wound sucking already.

The network executives, obviously. Who else would be that stupid? The real fifth season (the one following up on Season 4's Ninja Tribunal finale) is going to be released direct to DVD sometime soon.

Agreed! I think the suits still hold up today. I watched the original movie laste year for the first time in years and was surprised how good they looked. Each turtle had a distinctive look, which was cool.
I'm not really psyched about the designs for this new one. Plus, the CGI could turn out crappy, as you mentioned. But we'll see.
