In the latest issue of EGM Q-man reports a rumor that EA Games is working on a video game based on Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns.
I'm seeing it in my mind already.
Especially the final boss battle with Superman.

EA is making it? I have no doubt that it will suck if it were true.

Too true.
EA don't seem to get superheroes.
Also, there has only ever been one good Batman game (I'll let you decide which one) and no-one has even come close to beating it.
Love the story but the game?
no interest.

Yes, I agree.

Yes, I agree.
Batman Returns for the SNES still reigns supreme for me.
Although I actually liked the Batman Begins game...

as long as they don't trap you into the storyline too much... it's too easy to just make a comic book video game boss fight/random badguys with identical AI program/boss fight etc.
but if they make it too storyline run, it'll feel like those racing games with invisible walls that prevent you from going anywhere but forward.

Just one thing I gotta ask.
Who would be the better VA? Kevin Conroy doing his "Old Bruce" or Micheal Ironside from the Legends of the Dark Knight episode?
Either way...Tara Strong has to do Carrie, Richard Moll has to return for Harvey, and Mark Hamil HAS to be the Joker.

If that's true and they're going to release a Batman game based on Miller's DKR i want Conroy as Batman and Hamil as Joker.
(I hope it's true and be released as a game.Man,i've dreamed this game and i imagine it like a GTA free roaming style inside Gotham city).

Personally, I would like to hear Anthony Hopkins play Batmanīs voice. I think Crispin Glover should do Joker. Leiv Schreiber as Superman. Sean Connery as Green Arrow (who cares if he has an accent) would be awesome.

But the same game was made on the Genesis and from what I've heard it actually looked better.
Here's a list of all of the Batman games ever made before the PS2 and Xbox came out anyway.

It should be cell-sahded with some really gritty scenes. But it will suck anyway, EA just doesn't know how to do it.
The best Batman game I played was Rise of Sin-Tzu

A game? Heh, I guess the Frank Miller ass kissers don't limit themselves to just the comic book community and movie industry.

haha Sinclair Spectum was a real computer, i think they should make keyboards with rubber keys on:D
But i used to have Commodore c64 in those days, so it was a war going on between us and the Spectrum owners:)
About this game, i haven't seen a good superhero based game yet so i think i pass on this too, to be Batman and driving around in my tank could be fun, but no i have played to many of those GTA games.

Sounds like fun; I'll try it out.
Of course, I, for one, enjoyed the 'Batman Begins' video game. Granted, I was only able to enjoy it once. It has zero replay value, as even after all this time I remember vividly everything that I was supposed to do.

That'd be cool if they went with Ironside. I love Kevin Conroy, but if we're going tor DKR Batman, I think it should be someone other than him.
I'd want to shoot rubber bullets! Heck yeah!
I'm not a huge video game player, why doesn't EA understand superhero games? I'm not even sure what they've done.

So the game will be batman fighting the gang leader, then killing joker, then fighting superman. And in between we will have 7 - 10 hours of mindless fighting street thugs, because in game form thats how the comic breaks down, its basically a couple big fights with alot of talking in between.
So when EA tones it down alot to get away with a teen rating you will end up with a mindless brawler that has the violent overtones the comic watered down and some vauge references to the original material.
Thanks but no thanks. Liking the idea of this as a game to me is like thinking identity crisis would make a good game. Just because a comic is beloved by many and a good story doesnt automatically mean it will transfer into a game well. You have to look at the fact there isnt much in the comic that can be turned into something you do with a controller and to make up for that you have to add things in to do that werent there and by doing that your ruining what it is you originally liked about it.

Well batman has always been grumpy. He is older in it DKR but not some old man, if you think that then you didnt read it. And out of shape? Well when you get older you loose what some would call "youth", but the way miller wrote him he is more shape than anyone on this forum. Read the comic and come back then.

You forgot Harvey Dent. Not to mention Batman taking the thugs out in the old warehouse ("Welcome to hell!"), the BatTank/Dump battle, the entire sequence of Batman on horseback during the blackout... There's plenty more than "fighting the gang leader, then killing joker, then fighting superman."
The storyline could be adjusted somewhat, and there are other parts that could be expanded upon. An entire sequence could be devoted to Batman sneaking into the warehouse where he finds the Mutants stock of military weapons-- This could be a major part of the game, but it's only briefly touched on in the comic. You could also have a level where you play as Robin running through the amusement park, disabling the Jokers bombs while being hunted by his goons (ending in the rollercoaster chase sequence, of course). Several Batmobile/Bat Cycle chase sequences could be added in as well for variety.
Who knows what they'll do with it, but I'd prefer using Metal Gear Solid as a model instead of Grand Theft Auto. I don't think "mindless brawler" is the way to go, and I think you're jumping to conclusions when you assume that's what the game will be like.
