Okay, got to previews night after having slept only an hour in the last 36 hours or so, and was pretty out of it, but...!

First, I love the readers. So many wonderfully kind and enthusiastic people...peeps of every kind, so fun to talk to. SDCC isn't great for quiet chats, but the energy and enthusiasm is unending. It makes me wish I could spend more time with everyone. Some random nice things: The gay readers rock. They just do. They are so fun and enthusiastic and I just adore them all the way to my toes. Kris Gen and her mom are here, sweet as can be. Several times cute Asian guys came up and expressed sincere appreciation for Ryan Choi in the Atom, which made my heart glow.

Too many nice encounters to list...AND a sweetie from the Bendis board kept his promise and brought me some Oreos. I died laughing.

Then the creators...again, too many to list, but how thrilling is it to meet Marv Wolfman and Len Wein within minutes of each other? And the Bongo guys, I love them, and Karl Kerschel and so many other talented folks. Plus, newflash, Marc Andreyko rocks. Waid and I were so busy signing we didn't even realize we were parked right across from each other for hours.

And finally the DC staff that are so wonderful and get so little credit for everything they do, from Dan DiDio and the newly promoted Jann Jones to all the editors like Ben Abernathy, Jonathan Vanquin, Joan Hilty and a bunch more. These are great, dedicated people, who take a lot of blame and don't get anywhere near the acclaim they deserve. I just adore them. Oh, and Fletch Chu-Fong, also someone I love.

The crowds are kind of hard for me, but the kindness and support is just overwhelming. I can't believe the respect and graciousness the industry continues to show a former hairdresser who writes weird little comics (and I'm talking about me, here, not Brian Bendis).

It's just overwhelming, and that was after only two hours on Preview Night.

I keep asking myself, "Do I deserve to have friends and readers and collaborators like this? "

Probably not. I don't know what I ever have done to be so fortunate.

It really is overwhelming.

Right now I love EVERYBODY! :)

You're an entertainer... you bring moments of wonder and escape to people on a regular basis.

Yeah, come to England, Arkansas. It's a few hours from my house, but . . . oh, not that England? :o

Gail, you rock, and I love your modesty and humbleness (is that a real word?)most of all.

Hope to see you again soon.

Question: Did you take Scott with you? If so, the SDCC folks are in for an added treat.

humbleness (is that a real word?)

It is actually "humbality." Or "humbleisness."

I mean, c'mon.

Awe! It sounds like you're having a blast. But get some sleep, young lady. We don't want you getting sick and missing out on all the fun that is to come.

Also, my best friend and her boyfriend may stop by one of your signings. She's not a comic reader but I had her watch "Double Date" with me last year and loved it and has since become a fan. If she's able to, she'll tell you 'hi' for me since I was suppose to be there with with her.

Stupid work...::grumble...grumble::

Yeah. To get this humble pie out of my intestines. It won't dislodge itself from my colon.

There is nothing, I repeat NOTHING humble about an enema.
