I just wanted to ask: How close was Roswell to the Roswell High books t hat it was based on? I never read them.

The pilot episode is very close to the first book. There's a couple differences here and ther (Alex/the Colin Hanks character is more involved), but its very close.

After that its a whole different ballgame. The first book was optioned before it even came out so the subsequent books were coming out as the show was originally on so there's basically no similarities. The sherrif is 100% evil. Other teenage aliens are gradually introduced (but not Tess). There's an adventure or two on the alien homeworld. Its just completely different.

There's 10 Roswell High books and they're all young adult books so they're small and read fairly fast so if you can get your hands on them they're worth reading once. Its kind of like reading an alternate reality version of Roswell. What if the series went left here instead of right.

Last time I checked though some of those books were going for ridiculous prices on ebay and Amazon. Not the Roswell High books that much (in the $10-15 range), but the series of books that came out after the series ended and sort of served as a "4th season" were going for hundreds of dollars apiece.
