Same feeling here. For me it's pretty interesting how Kyle interacts within his environment and how he reacts in certain situations.

Did anyone else catch the opening episode. IMO, I though it was a pretty good start with some of Kyle's background explained. As well as a somewhat surprising death. Also the new character introduced adds a new aspect to the story. What did you guys think?

haven't seen the new season yet...i'm looking forward to it a bit though as I used to catch it last summer with my ex-girlfriend's family.
I saw the promo ads featuring a belly button-less Kyle & some girl (who initally, I thought was supposed to be his live-in sister character--you know that chubby type girl...just photoshopped way too much for the ads sake, but now I see it's his clone sister/the new character girl).
can i get a spoiler on who died? I bet it was the cop dude or the dad...?

Actually it was Adam Baylin(spl?) which is surprising considering he was introduced in last season's finale, only to be killed an episode later.
I sorta think Kyle's return to home was a little too fast for the episode. But at least we get to see him back with the family.

I'm the opposite. I'm more interested in the conspiracy/alien/clone whatever thing (lol) then the coming of age stories.
To me, the conspiracy/etc is what makes the show interesting. We've seen the coming of age thing a thousand times before. If Kyle was just that, it would be another Dawson's Creek (or One Tree Hill or whatever) or something. Not saying that the coming of age stuff is that bad (some of it is interesting), but the conspiracy stuff just makes the show really interesting and without it the show would be all soap. The whole mystery of Kyle (who he is, his powers, etc), plus the new mystery with the girl. Thats the cool stuff of the show, imo.
I liked the first episode back. We got some revelations, plus some interesting set-up. And the previews for upcoming episodes look even better!
Kyle isn't a great show, but its a good one. Not every show has to be Battlestar Galactica, Lost, or Heroes. We can have some just plain good shows too!

Last night's episode was good. Part of me really wants Kyle to let the Tragers in on his secrets, but obviously it'd probably be more than they could handle.
I'm not sure how I feel about Declan so far this season...I thought he was okay toward the end of last season...and clearly keeping Kyle's secrets messed with his head. The boy doesn't seem emotionally all together.
The whole XX thing...I think that's really going to take this series in an unexpected direction.

anybody been watching this season? i like that they have revealed so much this season from all the mysteries in the first one, unlike a lot of shows which drag stuff out. anyone else still watching this and enjoying the season?

Yup, I haven't missed an episode since the series began. I thought the first season was excellent, and I was afraid the 2nd season wouldn't live up to it. Well it has, I've enjoyed every episode. I like to see Kyle having someone who will push him to discover the limits of his powers. I'm enjoying the storyline w/ Kyle and the company who is trying to get to him. I wonder what the information is that they think he has stored somewhere in his mind.
I was very disappointed when Adam Baylin died in the 2nd season opener. I would of enjoyed it more if he trained Kyle rather than Foss. I enjoy Foss's character, but I think it Adam could of related to Kyle better and also given us a better idea of everything he can do. I found it weird Foss would threaten violence against Lori to Declan and I wonder what Kyle is going to do when he finds out. I hope they don't turn Foss into a bad guy. They had us fooled in season 1 making us think he was the enemy when he was really out to help Kyle, and in the end he turned out to be good. So I hope that wasn't for no reason.
I'm curious to see what happens with this new girl with powers like Kyle's, I think her name was Jesse. From Monday's episode it is obvious she has a thing for Declan. I have a feeling the relationship between her and Declan is going to turn into some "fatal attraction" type deal.
But still I'm greatly enjoying this season and will continue to watch until the season finale.

Kyle is shaping up to be quite the potential hero. This show is pretty good, with a patently ABC Family flair to it of course. I'd suggest catching up and watching it if you haven't and have free time, decent fun.
All of the episodes (or at least most) are archived on abcfamily.com.

I'd like to say that it alludes to Foss's training or something but the show really isn't that subtle. It's not bad, just not always that deep.

I'm betting he's working as a double-agent of some sort, or he's under some kind of brainwashing. Who knows, but it definitely adds some more mystery to the plot.
I loved this week's episode, by the way. This show does a really good job of mixing the very normal teen angst stories in with the sci-fi suspense stuff.

Or maybe Foss has an agenda all his own where it invloves using Kyle. I'm enjoying this new season but I'm not sure about all these new abilites Kyle has. Also learned to talk and act normal pretty quickly but I guess some stuff happened off screen.

The normal teen stuff is where this show shines. I find a lot of the sci-fi stuff derivative and better done elsewhere but when the family starts to get together and deal with very real, very ordinary problems things pick up. Kyle XY frequently has episodes that could serve as good springboards for discussions. I particularly liked the way they handled the situation where Josh found his parents' pot. In my opinion it was an intelligent way to handle the problem and a good model to handle real life situations.
Especially if your family is full of geeks watching a sci-fi show together.

also loved josh teaching kyle to dance.

Yeah, last night's was great. Josh is hilarious and I like his new girlfriend; though was her headache from the previous episode explained?
Kyle's near kiss was also great. I almost hate the need to continue to revisit the Foss stuff. Though I'm glad Declan's back on Kyle's side, and that we got further explanation as to why he was keeping his distance.

Good episode. Though I definitly like the show best when they focus on Kyle learning to control his powers (with Foss. IMO, this is something that Smallville should have done! Clark should have gone into training like Kyle is), the plot with the bad guys, Jessie, is Foss a good or bad guy?, etc. Ya, I'm liking the Sci-Fi/mystery stuff more then the teen/soap stuff (as aside: I'm glad they brought Kyle's adopted father into the Sci-fi/mystery storyline...even though he doesn't know it! Actually they brought his 'mom' into it too).
I've seen the teen/soap stuff before in other shows (like Smallville. thankfully Kyle isn't as bad on the teen stuff as Smallville is)
That said, the episode was good, even though it focused on the teen stuff. I like the Josh/girlfriend relationship (they have good chemistry) and its good to see Kyle and Amanda FINALLY starting to get together (ditto). I think there's really only so long that you can string those things along. Smallville is STILL doing that and its just awful (ok, they got together once, broke apart, and now their back to the will they/won't they. ugh. move on). I was really glad when Amanda got away from that stupid boyfriend. lol. That was a not-so interesting plotline imo.
Though...I have to say this....I think Amanda will die. Either Jessie or one of the other bad guys will be responsible but Kyle will feel like it was his fault (I actually think Jessie would be the person for this. They're setting her up for something and I think its to be Kyle's main enemy. Killing Amanda would really take her character up a notch too. I see a season finale thing for this).
Why do I think this? Well, there's really only so many ways that the show can go with the Kyle/Amanda relationship. They can get together and be the happy couple, which is dramaticly boring (as aside: it really only works for the ending of shows for happy couples to get together imo), or they can get together, be happy for awhile, start fighting, and break up (ugh), OR they get together, but Amanda has to move away and leave the series, OR they never even get together. And we're strung along for rest of the series with them OR they get together, break up, get together, break up, etc....
OR...my theory. Amanda gets killed by one of the bad guys, Kyle thinks its his fault and he starts pushing Declan away again (but hopefully it won't work. Declan will stick by him anyway) and maybe everybody else (ditto).
Well, it could also be Declan that bites the bust too. Since Kyle is going to tell him everything. It puts Declan at risk and he may be killed off. In which case, Kyle would break up with Amanda. But then we'd be right back to the will they/won't thing. Which, personally, I'm pretty bored with. Seen it way too many times.
Do I want Amanda dead? No. I like the character. Although....I think that the character is a bit too perfect. Too nice. She just seems like a character that would get killed off....
Meanwhile, the other characters in the show, including Kyle, are not as perfect and seem like they will be sticking around.
So if they want to keep Amanda around, they need to start showing other sides to the character. And if they really want the Kyle/Amanda thing to work, then they need to find some dramatic way for it to work. They can't just be the happy couple.
My suggestion: Kyle should tell Amanda about himself. Yes, it puts her in danger and maybe thats what might kill her, if they do kill her, but it makes the relationship more interesting. See Declan: that character has become much more interesting since he became Kyle's friend & learned that there is something going on with Kyle (aside: although the Declan/Kyle split was getting a little old and I'm glad its over).
So I think thats really the only way to save the character. Bring her into the fold.
I think Josh, his sister, etc can be interesting & cool with that. Declan & Amanda definitly need this to make their characters really interesting. That or like I said, show us other sides of Amanda. lol.
Oh I still think one of them will get killed though. I think it needs to be done. Kyle needs to have that happen to drive him forward. To drive the show forward really. A Death and then Kyle coming to the realization that he needs to get rid of the bad guys. He needs to train and then find some way to stop them once and for all!
Although...another thing occurs to me....Josh's girlfriend seemed like she had something wrong with her in one episode. So maybe it'll be Josh that loses his girlfriend this season.....
Maybe Amanda/Kyle will go on for a few seasons. Hmm. I don't know.
Could be that they'll be two tragic deaths this season too. Josh's girlfriend and then in the season finale, Jessie comes after Amanda & kills her....
DF2506
" Or maybe I'm just giving this show too much credit. lol. I do think that the show has proven that its willing to take chances though. Introduce new characters (Balwin, Jessie, Jessie's 'sister', the new boss, Josh's girlfriend), new plotlines (Foss and Kyle training, etc), and plot twists (is Foss really a good guy?, Kyle's 'father' working for the bad guys, Jessie going to see his 'mom' ). Hopefully they'll continue to suprise & take risks! "

Not sure. Then again, the only show doing better than it was that "secret life of american teenager" or something.(I guess teen pregnancy is a secret?)
I more-so blame the network for this. They haven't done anything to advertise for this latest season. I never ever watch Fox Family, yet on various other networks I've seen plenty of ads for the secret teen show, or even that show "greek" that is also on the station. Fox Family is still trying to ride the buzz/hype they had from the first season of Kyle XY, I guess convincing themselves advertisement isn't necessary.
It's gonna suck to see this show go, I know the fans are sending out postcards in an attempt to save it, I can only hope that works.
As for the show itself, well Adam Baylin is now officially dead.

Yeah, I was hoping to see the Baylin character back this season. There were several episodes (right before the last one where they have 'guys night out') where the show was a bit off-kilter. It's hard to explain, bit it seemed to lack the substance, optimism and sense of discovery that most of the episodes usually have going for them (instead settling back on teen angst and really, really feeling like Smallville Light more than every before).
Hopefully the writers will get on track with some more interesting arcs (maybe bring in more villains and more relevant use of abilities outside relationships), while giving each character better development (especially the Trager parents who are moreso ignored this season). With Foss back, hopefully things really start pulling together.

I suppose this is true. But the premiere episode of the new season stunk, so maybe that had something to do with it also. After the premiere I stopped watching. The show has become kinda redundent. It's not as fresh as it once was. That goes for a lot of shows on right now(I'm looking at you Heroes and Fringe).

I have to say I disagree, especially about Fringe. I think it's one of the best new series in a long time, and I find myself constantly wondering what is going to happen next. I really hope Fox doesn't cancel it.
I've also enjoyed this season of Kyle XY, I'm curious to see what Latnok has planned for Kyle.
