While watching "Dog: The Bounty Hunter" the other night A&E ran a commercial for the upcoming season with new eps of returning shows and new shows. One of the new shows is a reality series about Gene Simmons and family.

Gene Simmons imitates Ozzy Osbourne's reality television show. Color me unimpressed.

I was kinda looking forward to this for some reason. Not sure why cuz I dont even listen to KISS. I found the show to be very boring and I doubt I will watch again.

Wow.. I must be easily entertained because I found it hilarious. Can't wait til Monday.

While I haven't had the chance to sit down and watch an entire epsiode I can say that based on past interviews and documentaries that this show will be very different then Osbournes, other than the fact the both Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne are famous rockers with flair for the theatrical, they are very different men, after the first season of the Osbournes I really began to wonder when they were being real and when they were "acting" with Gene what you see is what you he's a braggert, egotistical, never stops to thank about what he is about to say and who it might offend or why and the reason that I love him is that he makes no apolgies about it. Also Shanno tweed seems to have a more stable head on her shoulders than Sharon Osbourne and also the kids seem alot more normal than the Osbourne kids.
I'm willing to give the show a chance; heck it's already alot better than most of the "Reality" tv shows on the air and I haven't even watched it yet.

I watched the first episode and found it quite boring. I was tuning in to see Shannon moreso than Gene. The kids seem nice enough but really aren't that interesting. Shannon doesn't seem to really have that much to do. Gene seems to be playing to the camera and trying to be "charming". I saw Gene interviewed about the show before it aired and he said don't compare it to the OSBORNES because they're quite different and he was right. The show plays much more like GROWING UP GOTTI. I'm not a Gene Simmons fan but I'm kinda shock they couldn't make a show about an arrogant, money hungry, full of himself, aging ex rock star more interesting.

Good lord, Shannon Tweed has NOT aged gracefully. Bad facial implants on the woman.
Still, she has bred the ugliness out of the Simmons line, so she should be commended for that.

But it's not entertaining. With Ozzy, it was like he didn't even know the cameras were there, so we saw a lot of interesting "real" moments. With Gene, he knows the cameras are there and it seems like he's always conscious about showing his best side, and not looking stupid, which is boring.
Watching Family Jewels makes me ashamed that I once had a Gene Simmons KISS doll. He's got plenty of money. Why does he want to humiliate himself on national television??? His narcissism is not very attractive either.

Watching Family Jewels makes me ashamed that I once had a Gene Simmons KISS doll. He's got plenty of money. Why does he want to humiliate himself on national television??? His narcissism is not very attractive either.
He's got to keep his self out there so people don't totally forget about him and he must try to be relevant. If not the KISS army might start to forget about him and not keeping buying the thousands of KISS products they pedal.
All his tv shows does for me is strengthen my believe that he's just an arrogant self absorbed bore. But then I've never understood the appeal of KISS either. A visually exciting looking band doing incredibly mediocre music in my opinion.

You need to watch more episodes. I love the show. I was surprised to see how tender and sweet he is with his family. And he's completely whipped by his thirteen year old daughter. She "scolded" him for trying to create some artwork for his son's band and he just stood there and said nothing in defeat. LOL. I loved that.
Did you see the episode where Shannon takes him to a spa to loose weight and he pays one of the staff members to get him fast food in the middle of the night?
He may act more aware of the cameras but if you watch enough episodes, you'll see him do and say things without thinking. He's more subtle.
I am so over Ozzy and his family drama/insanity. I am totally bored with them but Gene Simmons and his family is a nice breath of fresh air. Kind of sad that we are bored with watching a family that's actually more functional.
I like the show and I'm glad it's not like The Osbournes. Then it would be boring.

To bad she's so young, dammit! She looks at least 16. :(
(It's cool to see that Gene is man enough to admit "defeat" on television. It shows he can be humble and can also admit he can make mistakes.)
