View Full Version : Avatar Contest for 7/18

It seems every morning for the last couple weeks, we are no longer watching espn when I get into work, but it has swithced to TNT and its back to back episodes of Charmed. A show I never watched ever, and now I am finding myself hooked.
So this weeks contest is going to be MAGIC
It can be anything magic related, magicians, the game, etc...
As usual:
The person who wins the last contest picks a theme, the posters all make an avatar according to what fits the theme. Come Tuesday of the next week, we vote on whose is the “best”. The only prize is that the winner gets to pick the next contest.
Please don’t suggest avatars! People like thinking stuff up themselves and it’s frowned upon. If you think of a neat Avatar idea, why not take it yourself?

I give you the star of Book of Magic, Tim Hunter.
Before there was Harry Potter, there was another mop-haired, bespectacled British lad living in poverty with the portential to be a great mage.
I loved that series.
At least until they retconned the whole bloody concept.

Since I've thoroughly enjoyed the movies, I've decided to read the Harry Potter books. My wife's a 4th grade teacher and has them in her classroom (not allowed in the public school she taught in, but is encouraged by the Catholic school she's now in...go figure), so I didn't even have to buy them. I'm on "The Chamber of Secrets" now.
Anywho, since I enjoyed Alan Rickman's portrayal of him in the movies, I'm going with Professor Severus Snape, head of Slytherin house.

Thanks, Spack.
Really, do it--the guy who wrote it is a big comic book nerd, too, but it's not about comics. It is very lit-pulpy, though, and even though a lot of the twists are predictable, it's captivating and you don't care where you end up because the ride is so much fun. It's a great summer read.

He was created by Alan Moore. He cheated cancer and the devil at the same time. He's the star of one of DC's longest-running books at this point, and most of the time the book has been pretty good. And hell, he was Zatanna's tutor in the ways of tantric magic! How cool is that.

I really wanted to do a pic of a kitten that my wife and I rescued a number of years back. He and his sister (named Pumpkinhead) were left in a garbage can to die. We rescued them and they stayed in our house for about three weeks until we could find homes for them. The grey tabby could escape from any confinement we put him in, so we called him Houdini. But alas, no pictures of the little waifs. So, here is the most famous escape artist ever, Erich Weiss.
Oh...and since my move I don't have avatar ability set up yet. A cut and shrink would be greatly appreciated.

I have to go with Jade GL and Zantana.
If only Elizabeth Montgomery had worn fishnet stockings.

Man. that's Homerjay's second win this year. And he used to belong in the "bridesmaids" club with me.
Congrats Homer!

A thank you to all of those who voted for the vague but undeniable creepiness of Doug Henning.
Expect a new contest by noon. I had Jame Gumb from SILENCE OF THE LAMBS the week before, so regardless of the contest topic, expect a decidedly NON-creepy avatar from me that I don't actually mind seeing everyday.
Stay tuned...

No, that's pretty much a volunteer thing.

So, who's got the record for most wins on this thing? I'm thinking HJ's gotta be a contender, what, with the cowbell and everything.
If he posted an av featuring pics of his wife's cleavage/boobs, he'd probably be a strong contender for Best Av Corrie.

I did it all the time when I was unemployed.

You should start a "Greatest Avatar of all Time!" contest!

Last year, MacQuarrie and K'Nort won quite a few times.

I've only actually won 3 times, and cowbell actually wasn't one of them (it DID get 2nd place in the Corries though).
As for creating a boobs avatar (my wife's, or in general)...I just haven't found the appropriate contest to do it in.
