The Redwall series of books is awesome! Anybody else here read them?

I read some of the earlier ones, but I kinda lost interest. They all began to feel very similar in content and tone.
I like Mossflower best, but I think that might be because it works well as a prequel to Redwall, and the two stand alone pretty well.
They'd make great animated features, but only if they were handled by Don Bluth and co., which isn't likely to ever happen now. I'm aware that there's a television series, but I haven't seen it.

I've heard the newest in the series, High Rhulain, is very good. I haven't read it yet though.

I've only ever read the very first novel, and it was quite good. I just never followed up, and I'd have to reread the first one to understand what's going on anyway.

Actually, you don't. Redwall is the first in the series, but eventhough the books are connected, you need not worry about reading them in order. Mossflower is basically the orgin story of Redwall Abbey and the re-emrgence of Lord of Salamandastron and the heoric Long Patrol.
Still Redwall sets the pace, but isn't needed to understand what is going on in the Redwall universe.

I would prefer reading Redwall first though.

These were my favorite books back in the day :) I got into them when I noticed my friend reading Mattimeo and asked what it was about. As it were, the first one I read was Mossflower because that was all the library had when I visited :p A good start.
I haven't read the latest ones though; I think the last one I read was Lord Brocktree.

My daughter loves the series, and has read most of the books.
I've only read Martin the Warrior.

How old is your daughter again? I've been thinking about reading one of them with Nate (almost 11).
Of course, they are about vermin.
I used to love this series when I was a kid. Martin the warrior was one badass mouse.

Off the top of my head, Gonff the mousethief :p It's been a while though, so I may be forgetting someone.
Oh, Farran the Poisoner (IIRC from Salamandastron) was interesting.

I have read a couple of them, at first i thought it silly with some kind of talking animal world, but this is really not only books for kids.

I used to be obsessed with Redwall. I think I read The Pearls of Lutra and Marlfox a good four or five times each.
I stopped reading them a while back, though. I only have up through Loamhedge, and there's been... what? Two books out since then? I've been meaning to pick them up eventually, though.

Yeah I sure wish more new books will be coming out soon.

She's 13.
But she was an avid fan when she was as young as 9 or so.
I think Nate would like 'em, based on what you've said about him onlne.

Cool. I'll give it a shot.
I've already corrupted him with Heinlein's juveniles.

If there aren't any more new ones soon then I will lose my interest in Redwall.

Jaques is one of the few, very few authors that I try to buy every new hardback that he puts out.
I have the first 11 or so Redwall novels (nursing school has slowed me down a bit).
They do get a little repetitive, but are great for boys and girls, ages 8ish to 80ish.

Yeah he does have some other pretty good books besides the Redwall series.

I really like the series. A good variation of titles, most of them different stories. I've bought only a few of the books, and really need to buy more of them soon.

His CASTAWAYS isn't really that good. The first book was the best, above average. The other two where.... below average. When it comes to Redwall, most of the first books that came out for the series would be high in my 'rating system'

I read some Redwall a few years back. Liked it, but I sort of lost momentum after Martin the Warrior. (Bastards killed Rose!) Might be picking it up again some day, though.

Yeah that was a sad part in the story. It really shouldn't have happened.

I used to love this series back in the day. I have probably 6 of 'em, my favorite being Martin the Warrior. I lost interest once I started reading Marlfox though.
