I had the pleasure of meeting Mickey at the Techno Comics booth at WizardWorld Chicago about 10 years ago. He was a nice guy, he will be missed.

Spillane's work has given me many hours of enjoyment over the years. From his novels, which I've recently been re-reading, to the movies made from them (saw Kiss Me Deadly just a few weeks back) to the great tv show starring Stacy Keach.
R.I.P. Mickey. You entertained me...and that would be a great compliment to him.

I got a chance to meet him a few years back and tell him how much I enjoyed his work. The man was sui generis.
Sad to hear this. Great and unpretentious writer. God rest his soul.

A fitting tribute. Keep 'em coming, barkeep.

I imagine that was in connection with the Mike Danger book? I enjoyed that series immensely-- it was one of the few books I picked up at that time, given my lack of funds. Of course I also enjoyed the Mike Hammer stories.

A true tough guy. People should check out Kiss Me Deadly, a terrific movie adaptation of probably his best book. R.I.P.

Might be even better to watch The Girl Hunters, which features Spillane playing Mike Hammer. Kiss Me Deadly is a great movie but it's to Spillane's work what the Starship Troopers movie is to Heinlein.

Yup. Max Allan Collins was also there.
