I saw this interview (superherohype) about Sam Raimi saying to the effect that he would like to do 4,5 and 6. Everyone knows that the actors/actresses and Sam is contracted for three movies. If Sony decides to do the next few sequels, I'd rather have Sam do it than some hack doing it.

They should just let the franchise sit for a while.
Three movies are enough for any character.
Come back in a decade or two with new actors and a fresh approach.

It'll depend on how much money #3 makes, I'm sure.

I think 3 will make enough so that there will at least be a #4 but 6 movies. Thats a little much for me i would like 4 to be the last one.

You know I'd like for the franschise to take a rest for a little while too but at the same time I don't know if the third movie will be a good enough conclusion. There's so many things from the Spidey-verse that I want to see on the big screen right now.
Mostly Eliza Dushku as Black Cat.
Venom

Mostly Eliza Dushku as Black Cat.
I think most of us really want that to happen.

I'd love to see a few more Spider-Man films, especially if they're as good as the first two.
Some possibilities....
Kraven's Last Hunt- The first half introduces Kraven & the Lizard. The latter half adapts the classic storyline substituting Lizard for Vermin. This story could also substitute Venom for Kraven, or have Kraven gain the alien symbiote. Mary Jane will have to deal with the love of her life going missing for several weeks,
The Mystery of the Hobgoblin- The plot would vary based on the conclusion of Harry Osborn's story in Spider-Man 3, but it could be a cool mystery with a new villain using the Green Goblin's gear.
Framed- Mysterio frames Spider-Man, who finds himself the target of law enforcement officials. The battles with Mysterio will be sfx extravaganzas. And J Jonah Jameson responds by turning Mac Gargan into the Scorpion.

I really like the idea of switching out Vermin for Lizard, and if they're gonna do Kraven at all, it would have to be his badass "Last Hunt" version.
But seeing as we only get a Spider-Man movie once every few years, are audiences really going to like having Peter offscreen for that amount of time?

I think that it will all depend on what happens with 3. I think that the only way that it would work though is if the same cast stayed on to do the new movies. Otherwise you will have the Batman movies all over and completely ruin the great movies that are already out. From the previews that Ihave seen of Spidy 3 it looks like it is going to be an awesome movie. I have been counting down the days since I finished watching 2.

I think the real challenge is to find an interesting story for Peters personal life as well as one for his superhero life. Otherwise it's going to become Spider-man vs. Villan of the month. I think that's what makes Spider-man so special. It's not just about fighting bad guys it's about a guy growing up. I think Raimi has done a good job of maintaining that.

All great ideas. I'd love to see Kingpin but he was already in Daredevil.
Meanwhile, Peter Parker stories:
Black Cat, and Mary-Jane, and all that.
Pete and MJ getting married.
Spider-Man unmasked! Except everyone thinks that it's Harry.
Of course, in 3 they're gonna have Gwen Stacy, a wedding ring, and probably Harry dying.

The audiences will accept it (at most twenty minutes) as long as
A. The guy who plays Kraven is compelling while wearing a Spider-Man suit.
and
B. The woman who plays Mary Jane does a good job visiting Peter's friends & family, and worrying about his fate.
and
C. Spider-Man gets a kick-ass moment crawling out of the grave.
