I know Hulk was a member of the Avengers and currently is a member of the Marvel Adventures Avenges title (love that team setup). Anyway how long was Hulk a member of the 616 Avengers?

How did he join and what was the situation around him leaving the team?

What is or was his relationship like with members of the team when he was on it and perhaps after it?

When he was there, which verison of Hulk was it? The smashing Hulk or the version we have in the current Hulk series/Planet Hulk event, where he seems in control of what he's doing and is able to reason?

Hulk has always been a favorite and interesting character to me. Remember watching the movie, didn't think it was to bad, the cartoons he was in and liked him in the Ultimate Avengers movie and I'm enjoying the Planet Hulk storyline. Hulk I fell is an Icon. How many times have your heard the "You won't like me when I'm angry" in movies, tv shows, and among people in general. When I think Marvel the words that come to mind right away are X-men, Spider-man, Captain America, and Hulk. I've always wondered, though just how well has his comic title done over the year sales wise? Good, so so, bad?

I know it lasted into the 400s and then got restarted, which is the current series now. I think that's a great run to be honest.

Why was it restarted? That was back in 99 or 2000 right?

On average in the comics, is he usually hunted, fighting villians, shown as the bad guy, teaming up with others, etc?

Also the most important question.

Does Hulk have comic DVD the way both Uncanny X-men, Spider-man, and Avengers got their 40 years of comics versions? Any plans for one?

Thanks.

1: The Hulk was one of the founding Avengers. Loki had basically made everyone think The Hulk had caused a disaster and that a Hulk/ Thor confrontation would lead to Thor's demise. Thor saw through Loki's prank but Rick Jones called in other heroes (Iron Man, Hank Pym in his Ant-Man days and The Wasp). After the threat was passed, the five heroes decided to stick together as The Avengers.

2: Distrustful. He left almost right away (in the second issue, IIRC).

3: The Grayvage Hulk was a member. So yes, it would be the same Hulk appearing in the Planet Hulk arc. The Gray Hulk's personality in the green Hulk's body.

4: Hulk sales are usually okay. It isn't one of Marvel's biggest sellers but I feel Marvel is going to give the title a big push after Planet Hulk.

5: In those days, Marvel was relaunching practically every title. Amazing Spider-Man, Peter Parker Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Captain America, Avengers, Iron Man. I guess Marvel is still relaunching stuff with new #1s all the time. It was basically done to promote John Byrne's brief return as the Hulk's writer. The title was just "Hulk" and became "Incredible Hulk" when Paul Jenkins took over at #12.

6: Whatever the story needs. The Hulk, from a story telling perspective, is probably the most versatile lead character in comics. The Hulk can be smart, dumb, of average intellect. The Hulk can be heroic, villainous, or just a force of nature. The Hulk tends to be potrayed in a sympathetic light, what with being the lead of his own ongoing and all. But sometimes he can be potrayed as a real monster.

7: I don't know.

Even after leaving the Avengers, he kept up the bad blood with them. During one of the Infinity crossovers, he refused to help the heroes simply because he felt they had turned their back on him all thse years.

he tends to look down on Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch because he feels they sort of traded places. They started out as villians and became heroes, while he started as an Avenger and was mostly hunted by the government since then.

Also in the Heroes Return storylines, when all the former members of the Avengers were being attacked and the team tried to gather everybody up together, Hulk threatened them saying that he just beat whoever it was attacking him and would beat any Avengers team that he saw if he thought they had anything to do with it.

Hulk may have been in the founding group, but left almost immediately.

You can find this in the first two issues of the original volume, but also in the Marvel Masterworks reprint (paperback would be cheaper!) However, if you're REALLY cheap, go find the black and white reprint at Family Dollar or Dollar General as a digest comic book that contains issues #1-2-3... You'll get his primary appearances. Capt America arrives in #4, so it's a pitty that wasn't included, but for the buck, it's a great little booklet! Hunt it up!

Other than a slight appearance at the end of 4, and a guest starring roll in #5, that sums it up. (These first five issues were reprinted in color in a YELLOW paperback version of Marvel Masterworks, for about $10 in the late 1980s or early 1990s. Check out your local comic shop for a copy, or search on ebay. I don't know if it's still in print, but I doubt it.)

EDIT: I just ran over to ebay and searched for "Marvel masterworks tpb" and turned up no less than FIVE copies of this yellow cover treasure in various used or mint versions for about $10.36 Go check it out. Popular comics has a new copy and there's a used HARDCOVER of the first ten issues for about the same amount on auction:

A few of Peter David's runs have been collected in trades, but NOT in the essentials. The Essential Hulk volumes (1-2-3) all deal with his initial Tales to Astonish appearances and the start of his own successful series, circa issue #100-120.
Peter David's run is not until YEARS later.

Can't help you with the name of them, but it seems like one is with the Leader and is something like, "Countdown" or something similar.
(Any help, guys?)

Yeah, any help would be good. David's Hulk run, along with Morrison's New X-men run are the two runs I really would like to get the complete thing of. I wonder what the next Omnibus will be after New X-men.

PAD’s run is slowly being collected as part of the Visionaries line. It’ll be quite a while before we get the whole thing since his run lasted over a decade and there are only eight or comics collected each in the three trades out thus far. Visionaries are generally used to collect definitive runs (PAD’s Hulk and X-Factor, Walter Simonson’s Thor, Frank Miller’s Daredevil, ect) where as the Essentials are huge, relatively cheap, black and white reprints of early issues of a series and/or early appearances of a character.

This site is a great resource in teams of knowing what’s out there trade-wise…

I hear Bendis has really been pushing to have his DD run collected that way so that’s certainly a possibility.
