Yep. Fine show. I've been a fan on Aaron's strip for a long time and was more than excited when I heard about plans to turn it into a series for Adult Swim. And I haven't been disappointed yet.

I was actually surprised over how much I liked the show. I did enjoy the comic when it first came out but then my interest started to wane once Caesar was introduced and it seemed to become Huey ranting about the same damn thing while using Caesar as a sounding board. The cartoon, on the other hand, manages to be interesting and topical without coming off as overly didactic. In fact I love how it manages to discuss racisim without glossing over the absurdity of certain aspects of 'black culture.' It's pretty equal opportunity that way.

i think that's the real beauty of the show...the "return of the king" episode is so mind blowing...because he call to issue things that we aren't suppose to touch...i.e. putting martin luther king jr. in that particular context...and although it caused a minor stink...<i'm looking at you al sharpton>...it's disarming in 2 ways...1) these are comments and ovbservations being made by so-called "cartoon" characters who are of an elementary school age and 2) there is a high degree of truth reflected in what is being said...having said that...i'm still doubtful i'd ever comfortable watching the show w/ my friends whom are white, but we do enjoy discussing the episodes the next day...and i think being able to do that is another added plus to the show.
Yeah, I'm a huge fan of the show. It address and pokes fun at some the issues dealing black culture. The MLK espiode really hit home, especailly the speech. I'd posted it up whenever I can find it.

Is this it? This is what I got all those ass-whoopings for? I had a dream once. It was that little black boys and little black girls would drink from the river of prosperity, freed from the thirst of oppression. But lo' and behold, some four decades later, what have I found but a bunch of trifling, shiftless, good-for-nothing ni***s; and I know you some of you don't want to hear me say that word. It's the ugliest word in the English language. But that's what I see now--ni***s. And you don't want to be a nigga. Because ni***s are living contradictions. Ni***s are full of unfulfilled ambitions. Ni***s wax and wane. Ni***s love to complain. Ni***s love to hear themselves talk but hate to explain. Ni***s love being another man's judge and jury. Ni***s procrastinate 'til it's time to worry. Ni***s love to be late. Ni***s hate to hurry...!
...Black Entertainment Television is the worst thing I've ever seen in my life!
...Usher, Michael Jackson is NOT a genre of music!
...And now I would like to talk about Soul Plane!
... I've seen what's around the corner. I've seen what's over the horizon and I promise you, you Ni***s have nothing to celebrate! And no, I won't get there with you... I'm going to Canada.
