View Full Version : What characters do you think Grant Morrison will tackle?

We already know that Dini has The Riddler, Poison Ivy, etc. set to appear...

All we know is that Grant is doing some stuff with Batman's Son (Which may involve Talia and teh retun of Ra's?)... and even a little bit of The Joker... so who do you think he will/ should tackle?

I think Two-Face should definitely be a top candidate for Grant to use, as well as, The Penguin, Killer White Shark and then some more obscure villains. Basically, I want there to be a follow up to Robinson's story... and for Grant to get his hands on every character in the Batman mythos that he can.

Any one else have ideas or thoughts?

I'm scared of Grants run. It frightens me. Honestly.

Ninja Man-Bats?!??! C'mon, if Frank Miller put ninja Man-bats in All Star the "frank should retire" sh!t would start all over again. But, Grant does it and "oh man thats the greatest thing ever!"

Frank Miller makes some changes to an out of continuity Robin origin and " "

Grant brings a lame out of continuity story in continuity and gives Batman a biological son... just after Jason Todd came back and DC didn't kill Dick so now he's just hangin around... and everyone thinks this is just the cats ass.

I don't get it.

I'm thinking this whole thing Grants doing sound ridiculous.

Dini knows whats up. Thank god for Dini.

With Morrison, you never can know for sure. But I hope to see his take on the Scarecrow and the Mad Hatter eventually.

And Bat-Mite too.

I'd like to see Morrison introduce some new Bat-villains. "Gothic" had a great one in Mister Whisper. His New X-Men run introduced Cassandra Nova, and the U-Men.

I'd also like him to set up things years in advance. I want some "Xorn" type surprises.

Very much looking forward to this run.

It's worth noting that "Son of the Demon" is probably one of the best regarded Batman stories ever, so I see nothing wrong with Morrison bringing it back into continuity.

Miller would continue to outsell Morrison, and Dini, so I doubt DC will take the cries of fanboys who want him gone too seriously.

I think Two-Face is a good choice. Morrison came up with some clever ideas for the character in Arkham Asylum (weaning him off the coin with a die for instance) but didn't really have space for him there. Now that he has something like 15 issues already mapped out, I'm sure he'll get around to utilizing a character he clearly has put a lot of thought into. Now that it seems that there's no longer a moratorium on using Two-Face, it would make sense to assume that we'll see him sooner rather than later.

Morrison also said he'd like to use the 10 Eyed Man and he will be using the League of Heroes (who he touched on in JLA Classified) according to his latest Wizard interview.

Other characters that I think are strong possibilities:

Dr Tzin-Tzin
Prof. Milo
Johnny Witts or The Getaway Genius (or both)
The Spark Spangled See Through Man
Dr No Face
The Outsider (I'd love to see this one)

I think Scarecrow's a likely choice, and if Morrison's Batman is going to have a touch of Bond in him, I'm sure we'll see Catwoman - if he used her in JLA I'm sure he'll use her in Batman.

I'd also think that there's no reason Morrison wouldn't use the Rogues Gallery of other heroes. Here's one I'd also love to see. Since no one has ever put him up against Batman despite being one of the biggest DC villains for nearly 50 years, and because Morrison excells at epic, everything's on the line tales, and considering the fact that there's precedent for Grant Morrison putting Batman in situations where you don't usually find him, how about Brainiac?
I'd love to see that Skull Ship hovering over Gotham about to shrink the city when Batman shows up.

Seriously, Grant Morrison could bring back Joe Coyne, the Penny Plunderer, and make him interesting.

Some times, you simply have to surrender to the absurd and enjoy the ride.

You mean the Ultramarines, form Classified 1-3? I don't think the 10 eyed man has been seen in decades, but who are the Star Spangled Sea though man, and Killer White Shark?

No, the League of Heroes made, I think, two appearances in the 1950s. And they weren't called the League of Heroes, but the Club of Heroes. They debuted in an issue of World's Finest when millionaire John Mayhew decided to get a number of superheroes from around the world together and form this club. Included in the group were Superman, Batman, Robin, and other heroes invented for the story including the Knight and Squire. Apparently since that story, the original Knight died, was replaced by the Squire, and the original Squire was replaced by a female one who assisted Batman in the JLA Classified story.

SPOILERS for an upcoming Morrison plot.

Grant Morrison told Wizard that one of his upcoming stories will involve the murder of John Mayhew and the Club of Heroes will be return.
I don't think the 10 eyed man has been seen in decades, but who are the Star Spangled Sea though man, and Killer White Shark?
I think Morrison cited the 10 Eyed Man as an obscure villain who he'd like to revisit since he remembers reading the original story as a kid.

The Spark Spangled See Through Man debuted and I think was last seen, in Batman 195. He was a criminal who was exposed to a massive dose of radiation which turned his skin transparent and his skeleton green. If he touched you, you'd receive an electrical shock. He was a precursor to Dr Phosphorus. He could change back to his human form by taking some pills which were hard to obtain. The longer he stayed in his See Through form, the shorter his life span became.

He appeared at a time when Batman's Rogues Gallery started to grow faster than any period since the early 1940s. Poison Ivy and Cluemaster first appeared around this time, Riddler, Scarecrow, Killer Moth, Mr Freeze, returned from an obscurity into which many other characters introduced at this time soon disappeared into. Since Morrison is an expert on the little known characters of the DC Universe and since this was a time when many of those people arrived, I'm sure he'd be familar with this period. I listed the See Through Man as a candidate who could return because I don't know if Grant Morrison can discover a green, electric skeleton called the Spark Spangled See Through Man and not want to use him.

The Killer White Shark, I don't know other than the fact that he's the new crime boss of Gotham and that he appeared in the Arkham Asylum miniseries from a few years ago. I think he was originally a guy who commited corporate fraud, plead insanity in the hopes that he'd get a light sentence, and instead got sent to Arkham where some pretty unspeakable things happened to him to turn him into the Killer Shark. Someone else would be able to tell you more.

We don't really know which Grant Morrison we'll get. Will it be the dark and twisted "Arkham Asylum" Morrison, the surrealistic "Doom Patrol" Morrison, the perversely funny "Skrull Kill Krew" Morrison or the back-to-basic-only-weirder "New X-Men" Morrison?

Arkham Morrison could use Two-Face, Black Mask, Ra's Al Ghul....

Doom Patrol Morrison could use the Tally Man, King Tut, Penny Plunderer...

Skrull Morrison could use Firebug, Roxy Rocket, the Trigger Twins...

New X-Men Morrison could use the Joker, Bane, the Penguin...

Calender Man would be awesome.

The Eraser is both odd, yet somehow logical. I think he would be a good one for Morrison to take up.

I hope he does Crazy Quilt, Mad Hatter, Riddler, Mr. Szas, and a turn with a sexy, thieving, 60's inspired Catwoman.

You forgot JLA Morrison, who is the most fun.

I'd like to see what Morrison could do with Mr. Zsasz. I'd also like to see him right the many wrongs piled on Prometheus since he appeared in the pages of JLA.

was he an old bat foe of the paul levitz/irv novick era?

please bring back Tom Nemesis Tresser in a non-espionage environment and let
Batman do some travelling like in the Neal Adams and the Jim Aparo Days -- I am tired of the limits of Gotham City of Crime.

The absurd and the profane, the most strange and obscure characters and the most twisted. And Harley and Ivy. And for some reason I have this nagging feeling he's going to do something with Spoiler. Ghost? Flashback? Legacy character? I don't know, it's just a weird hunch.
