The thread about your first computer made me have flashbacks of drinking chocolate milk and playing text based RPGs like Zork and the like. I had collections of games from Infocom that provided me with hours and hours of entertainment. I don't remember beating many of the games. I guess I've never been good at video games. My favorite one I think was The Hitch Hikers guide to the Galaxy which was based off the book. It was way funny.

So does anyone know of any resources or sites that carry these kind of games? I think it would be fun to play some new ones as well as revisit the old school games from my youth. I'm sure they are all in a box somewhere but I'll never find em.

Do you have a Streamload account? I've got all the old Infocom games. Let me know...

Don't know if you'd consider a MUD (multi-user dungeon) the same thing, but I played some Moongate back in the late 90's.

Google "interactive fiction." There are still people writing that sort of stuff by the metric ton.

Most Infocom games are still covered by copyright, but you can get four Zork games here (http://www.csd.uwo.ca/Infocom/); that page also has links to sites where you can get other Infocom games relatively cheap.

BBC.co.uk had the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy one up last time I looked... It's ridiculously hard though.
