Thanks for the link. I'd read about this but its much better to see it.

As Homer Simpson would say "Its funny because its true."

Colbert is the man. The fact the media is going out of their way days after to pretend he wasn't even there is an excellent sign of just how on the nose it is. The press notoriousily loves to dish out what it can't handle.

I don't think anyone's done anything this bold - and lived to tell -
since Brutus eulogized Caesar. His grandkids are going to be audited
forever, but it was well worth it!: eek: :p

I'd never seen the thread here. I just heard about the event from a friend of mine in the real world, and having never seen it, thought it new.

I was laughing so hard.

It's kinda amusing watching how silent the audience was. Then again, he was making fun of them to their faces. If anything, he was harder on the press than George W.

And I respect Scalia for laughing at the joke directed at him.

In his new special, Lewis Black talks about when he did the correspondants dinner and how delicate an audience it is, how carefully a comedian has to prepare and tailor the routine to make it work. You can roast everybody, but only in certain ways, to certain degrees, and they'll love you for it.
Colbert, I think to his credit, just said screw all that, and did what the TV audience would love.

I love the look on Bush's face throughout most of the video. He's sucking it up, like he has to, but you can tell he's thinking "this Colbert asshole is never getting on a plane without an anal probe again."

Yeah. I remember people complaining about how it's the same old jokes and points that liberal comedians make anyway. But the key difference here is that: it was virtually right up in Dubya's face, and he had no choice BUT to listen to them all.

And THAT is the painful part.

Watching Bush just sit there and take it, brought to mind a Leah DeLaria line:

NOW YOU KNOW HOW I FEEL!!!:evilsmile

6 years of this crap, already!

Colbert did what we've all been wanting to do. He just had the resources and access we don't. Good job for using, and slightly abusing ;) them to suit his purpose.
