Huh?

I wondered if any of you have bought or rented this game. I just bought it for the X-Box, and I am still not really sure how I feel about it. I am interested to hear what you all think of it.

I'm very interested to hear about this. I play Madden (mostly online) and I'm curious about this game.

I'm very interested to hear about this. I play Madden (mostly online) and I'm curious about this game.My initial impression is as follows:

To be interested in this game, you have to REALLY be into statistics and okay with long periods of game time without any Sunday game action. I have been playing about 4 hours so far, and I am still not to the preseason. Your first season starts in February so you have a long road until August.

I find the interface a little clunky, and the idea of "task periods" a little restrictive. The task is a of time during each day that you are able to do a certain action such as sign players or scout etc. The annoying thing is that you can only do limited signings (3 per task period) each time a task period comes along. This gets tedious after about the first time. Practices are boring so far too.

I have not actually played a game yet, so if anyone has an opinion, please post.

I played it and I really didnt like it. The whole fun of Football games is to actually control the players but this game was pretty much just a bore.

Here is my final opinion on it - I don't really like it. I think there is some potential with this game, but here are my problems:

1. There is far too much time spent doing nothing. The calendar moves day by day, and each day has 4 time slots. Each slot can be assigned a task such as: signing players, trade players, drills, scouting etc. The problem is that there are limits on how many actions you can do during each period, so if you wanted to do 5 trades, it would take you like three days.

2. The game is 4 five minute quarters long (and you can't change it), that is great for Madden, but if we are going to emphasize coaching, they need to come up with a way to make each quarter 15 minutes in game time, so that the last 2 minutes is actually exciting. As it is now, you can run about 14 plays in the final two minutes - oh the realism.

3. Interaction with coaches scouts and owners is clunky and unnecessary. All of this should be done through email.

4. You have to run all of your teams drills. Think about that for a second... does that sound fun to you?

5. I was excited to be able to watch my team play using a broadcast camera angle - like I was watching a game. Unfortunately, that angle is terrible, in fact all of them are. It is hard to tell what is going on most of the time because you are either to far away or the camera is to close to ground level. The classic camera (from behind) is okay, but still difficult to follow - especially on pass plays. In addition there is absolutely no way to follow the field goal, as the camera does not stay on the ball.

My final verdict: 3/10 (there is potential here, but a lot of work needs to be done.)

Now we know why Bil Cowher always looks pissed. The game stinks! Everything takes forever on it.

UGH!

EA Sports must have really blown it.

This sounds horrible.

Btw, anyone remember a PC game where you could coach/manage/draft rosters throughout a coaching career? This would be back around 1998 or 1999 before Madden got big.

I can't remember the name of the game but I was always intrigued by the idea.

It doesn't look like a good enough game to even rent.

I thought about picking it up, but I think I'd prefer the game concept as a BASEBALL game instead of a football game.

If I was interested in a game about a guy sitting in his office all day doing paper work I would watch security videos of people working in their office. It was pointless to make a game out of it.
