Oban Star Racers

It's a artistic collaboraton between a French and Japanese company; I got a chance to watch it this passed weekend and was blown away, it was on ABC Family ( Jetix ) of all places saturday's and sunday's ( replay ) at 10:30am. I think it might give Avatar the last Airbender a run for it's money. Here is the official site with a trailer http://www.savtheworld.com/eng/oban.php4

To Greg,

I know this may fall under Anime but since it is on american tv and created by a non japanese company ( Like Avatar ) I posted it here for the TV/film to check out first.

My friend who works for Jetix was talking about this. Sounds good.

Hi there,

Thought you'd be interrested to know the English official OSR fan site is now online.

Fansite adress: www.obanstarracers.com

Direct link to fansite forum: www.obanstarracers.com/forum

There are some nice cosplay and fanart pics, the long version of the original Yoko Kanno opening, air dates by country, and info about how the production took off the ground (nine years from concept to completion!).

;)

Watched it. Pretty great :) I liked the family-drama angle. Toward the end,
Things got pretty crazy. I figured she wouldn't get her mom back, but it's still a little bittersweet.
It remains to be seen how strong my post-ending funk will be...

This is an old topic, I know, but I'm bumping it because the first half of this wonderful series came out on DVD this past Tuesday in North America, and I personally am ecstatic about it. Anyone here who's an anime fan should definitely check it out if you haven't already. I know it's technically not anime, since it's mostly a French production, but for me, it ranks right up there with some of the best the medium has to offer, including my all-time fav, The Vision of Escaflowne.

Oban: Star-Racers is just a very touching series, one that starts off innocently enough, but really catches you off guard as it nears its end. Suffice it to say, the finale will stick with you long after you've seen it. Seriously, don't let the designs fool you into thinking its solely targeted at children, because it's most assuredly not. And at an SRP of $20 U.S. for the first 13 episodes, how can you miss?

As a side note, thanks to this series I now have a hopeless crush on Chiara Zanni... Absolutely love her voice.
