View Full Version : Should the members of A-Next be "real" Avengers

I just got the idea fater reading some old comics where the Guardians of the Galaxy members were actual Avengers. I was just thinking that it might be cool for a while if the characters from the A-Next series, (possibly including Spider-girl) were to take a trip back in time and were actually given "official" Avengers status, maybe a couple of them staying around and working with the team for a while.

I was just curious what anybody else thought of the idea.

Well, Cassie has a good shot, since she's on the Young Avengers as Stature- but I prefer Stinger anyway. The only other Anexter i want to see on the team is the Swordsman character. It might be a good idea to list all the Anexters, since i don't remember all of them.

The A-Next gang (as I remember them).

American Dream (Sharon Carter's cousin and Captain America wannabe)
J2 (son of the Juggernaut)
Mainframe (Ironman created robot)
Freebooter (sort of a Hawkeye/Swordsman combination. trained by Hawkeye)
Stinger (Cassie)
Crimson Curse (Scarlet Witch counterpart)
Bluestreak (Quicksilver counterpart)
Thunderstrike (son of the original Thunderstrike)
Spider-girl (daughter of Spider-man)

other members
Speedball
Jubilee
Steel Spider (formerly Spider-kid)
Jolt
Nova

Honorary members
Coal Tiger (Black Panther's son)
Earth Sentry (Captain Marvel counterpart)
Blacklight (daughter of Monica Rambeau)
Argo (hercules's son)

I'd say NO, because we don't even know if their future is going to happen.

I always thought the Guardians of the Galaxy didn't belong either. They may have guestared a little bit around Korvac, but I don't think they belong either.

In fact, I disagree with many of the additions to the Avengers. Too much, too fast, and then it means too little.

The few that I agreed with might have been Hercules after a year's service, and Black Knight. Black Panther on Cap's recommendation. But the Black Widow didn't deserve it when she was inducted. Nor did Vision when they rolled over for him. He should have gotten probation and a trial period with a place to stay for a year or so....

I've never read A-Next although I liked the art, the lineup and the way it had generational heirs to the older Avengers. Wasn't there also a young Tigra'ish character too?

It could still work in 616 since Masterson has a son and Cassie is a YA and stuff but I'm afraid I can't comment on much else.

A lot of these are dependant on the Avengers growing older, and having babies. I 'd like Thunderstrike to be on the YA team- maybe Speedball and nova on the regular team- Argo could presumably show up at any time, and i don't know who Blacklight is.

The only one I'd really wouldn't mind seeing would be Mainframe. Given the AI in Tony's armor now, he's already practically a member.

The difference between the Guardians and the A-nexters is that there is no real connection between Guardians and any existing Avengers (except Justice, and in this case, the chicken came before the egg). When you get future/possible spawn rubbing shoulders with their present-day parents... well, it gets a little too X-menish for my tatses.

I'm fairly certain it won't happen since, like Haunt said, Scott Lang is dead. Plus, May Parker, who the whole universe is based off of, is no longer around (neither is Kaine or any spider stuff from that era).

It'd be cool for A-Next to somehow meet the Avengers...or even the Young Avengers.

STATURE: Ugh, I have the worst taste in men. I can't believe I feel for Kang! So who am with in the future?
STINGER: Doom.

I just consider them official What If Avengers. They did appear in Avengers Forever with other alternate Avengers, so that's good enough for me.

Jolt and jubilee on the same team? Interesting choice.

"Last planet standing" would've been a good place to merge the two universes.
