according to the biggest newspaper of Finland (7/10/06), Helsingin Sanomat, this infamous Loituma girl flash animation has sparked the band's popularity once more. the song Ievan polkka has been downloaded worldwide hundreds of thousands of times and the band has got fan email from all over the world.

when asked about it, they were astonished. the singer who sings the most famous folk-scat solo part, Ms Autere said she thinks the comeback of Ievan polkka, a song originating in 1930's and Loituma's remake in 1995, is because of a flash animation showing a japanese anime girl waving the leek and singing Ievan polkka.

Now the band which had not been active in many years has got their own agent and they've been asked to tour in many countries, many of which outside Europe.

Oh was that it? I figured the names were from something else I wasn't familiar with. I guess I didn't get it because dub names seem like an outdated concept to me (I can't believe anyone would really think they'd do that to Naruto)...

Yeah, aside from a lot of 4Kids licenses, the only name changes in dubs that I can recall recently is in Bobobo-bo-bobo, and that's only a few characters, usually because the original name is a pun that doesn't transfer to English.

given the fact that this is a topic about a band...in finland....and not about bad dub names i think it's kinda understandable that a picture without context, or did i miss a comment about the picture other than "lol this r funny?"

my mind said "oh ok, it's some band or finnish musical organization that's taken a poster of bleach and put their own names in there as a funny-haha.

seriously, that's how i took it and i'm wondering what clue / hint you gave that told me to take it otherwise?

Speaking of 4Kids, I always found it odd how they left about 90% of the characters' names unchanged. Maybe it's because Oda doesn't seem that fond of overly-Japanese-sounding names to being with.

And not only that, they kept the tradition of family name first for the few characters that had them. That's something that even the likes of FUNimation and ViZ don't do most of the time.

Always found that strange.
