What if you could be an Avenger. What's your origin and powers, and how would you end up on the team?
I'll take a crack at it. My story begins in college. I'm a twenty five year old med student named Jimmy Tan. For the most part, I have a pretty good life. Supportive parents, good grades, and friends. Unfortunately, no girlfriend (a combination of being busy with school and just not being good with the ladies..haha, can't everything). I'm driving home from school when suddenly, I see a car crash into a power line. I stop to help. I call the police, then start getting the passengers out of the car. As I was about to get the last person out of the car, a powerline breaks and lands on my back. Everything goes black. I wake up to haze, and all I can see are the silouettes of imposing beings. One of the beings is encapsulated by energy (particularly electricity). He touches my hand, and I feel a power shoot through me. He says, "my power is now yours." I wake up to a nurse holding defibrillator paddles. She says, "we got a pulse." I pass out again.
I wake up to my parents and friends. They say I have been asleep for three days and that I almost died. The doctor walks in soon after and says that all the tests look normal so I'll be able to leave the next day. I remember my dream, but think nothing of it.
I stay with my parents for a couple of days to recuperate. Everything was seemingly normal. As I was microwaving a hot pocket, I see an electrical spark form inside the microwave. When I try to get a closer look, the spark hits me and the microwave explodes. I immeidately get the fire extinguisher to put out the fire. The electricity in the house is dead. I look for a flashlight. On the way, I encounter a mirror. To my surpirse, my eyes are glowing. I feel electrical energy flow through me. I form it in my hands, and a glow lights the entire room. I couldn't believe what was happening. I back up right into an electrical plug. To my surprise, my entire body becomes electricity and I am sucked in. I resurface at some strangers house. Everyone freaks out. I quickly go back. To my surprise, the accident had triggered some kind of electrical power in me. One of my abilities allows me to travel through electrical currents. Somehow, I find my way back to my parent's home. My eyes and body are back to normal.
I have a heck of a time explaining to them what happend when they got home. All I could come up with was something must have been wrong with the microwave. Ha ha, pretty dumb excuse for a med student. I spend the next couple of days trying to figure out my new found powers. Not only could I travel through power lines, I could also travel through currents in the sky. Basically, I could travel hundreds of miles in a matter of minutes. Also, I could fire electrical blasts from just about any part of my body. Although I had more control of my powers, I decided not to use them until I was in total control.
Things don't always work out the way you want them to though. While making a bank deposit, three armed men enter. I quickly take out the power and send three electric blasts at the men. The back up generators go on. The three robbers were stunned by the blasts. To my surprise, there was another body on the ground. It was an old man. One of my blasts had accidently hit him. I quickly start CPR on him. Although I was able to save him, the old man was left in a coma. Because of this experience, I tell myself that I will never use my powers again.
A month later, I am the hospital doing my rounds. It is the end of the day, and I am about to leave. My colleague calls me back and says that there is breaking news. An enormous ball of black energy of unknown origin is hurtling towards the Earth. If it hits, the world will be destroyed. Fortunately, Reed Richards and Tony Starks developed a laser that can pierce the centery of the energy ball and cause it to dissipate. However, the machine would have to tap into all the energy of the world. They fire a shot. Before it is able to do its job, the machine uses up all the available energy. There was only 1 minute left before the energy ball hit the Earth. So, I run outside and activate my powres. I am able to make it to New York (where the machine is located) within 30 seconds. I tell Reed to get ready to activate the laser. I let out a burst of energy that I never have before. Reed hits the activator switch, and the laser fires. It does its job. Before anyone could see, I leave the scence. Unfortunately, I drop my medical badge in my hurry. Tony picks it up.
The next day, I am woken up by a knock on my door. It is Tony. He asks me why I have never used my powers before. I tell that I have, and it resulted in a man being gravely injured. He tells me that if I join the Avengers, he will help me control my powers. I decide it is the responsible thing to do, so I accept his offer. He tells me that I'm going to need a name. A name comes to my head out of nowhere. The name is Raiden. Well, ha ha, there you go.
