So we sat through the weekend watching the Twilight Zone Marathon on Sci-Fi. Besides seeing ump'teen commercials for Sci-Fi's original movie Slayer with pretty boy Casper Van Dien we also saw a preview for Sci-Fi's Pulse...a new self promotion page on their site. During the preview, you actually see a quick shot of Screw-On Head. Well, I rushed downstairs and logged on and lo and behold...nothing on Pulse for Screw-On Head. Besides developing a tumor from constant barrages of Casper Van Dien, I don't get the Screw-On pay-off. Sci-Fi sucks! Best thing they had going was Farscape and they screwed the pooch on that and Battlestar Galactice which we'll have to wait to 2009 to see new episodes but then wonderfully they had the common sense to show Dr Who, but not the Christmas Special that showcases the new Dr. Oh and of course let's shove as much Stargate SG1/Atlantis as possible...oooo, ahhhh <gag>. Now we'll have Jessica Alba/Dark Angel to watch but they'll screw it up somehow. And can we also discuss ECW? What the Crap! I know Sci-Fi is owned by USA Channel, but come on, they tried WWE/ECW on Sci-Fi and it tanked. Why play it up like it's some kind of Sci-Fi show...it's Sports Entertainment. Might as well pull up old episodes of Lost Saucer and pretend it's Sci-Fi...it's not.

Man I sound tough.

Rave On, Mark. Nice to know someone else is as wacked about
the way things are done on Sci-Fi as I am.

Only thing I could find on the site about ASoH was that its scheduled
for 08/02/2006, at 01:00 AM. Guess we'll see more ads as that date
gets closer.

Thanks Otto,

I feel beter that I'm not alone. Oh the other commercial that got droned into my head was EUReKA. It sounds interesting, but of course Sci-Fi will screw it up. Oh..oh oh...man o-man o-Stan Lee what a tool you've become. What a big money hungry slut.
Who Wants to be a Superhero!
Fat Momma!
Feedback!
Major Victory!
Cell Phone Girl!
Monkey Woman!
Beware evil doers! Watch this show and retch with the rest of America.
Another suck show.

EUReKA is worth a look. Fingers crossed for luck.

As for Stan Lee... well, yeh. At some point we all find out that he was
always just a Funky Flashman as Jack Kirby labeled him. Still, ya can't
fault a guy for grabb'n a paycheck. Although, by now, you'd think that
he'd have enough to buy a small state.

The only things I want from Sci Fi are Doctor Who Season 2 (and any seasons after that) and possibly Screw On Head. They can show whatever crap they want otherwise.

Still sore at 'em for cancelling MST3K, my all-time favorite show, not because it was doing bad, but because it's ratings weren't increasing! What the hell is that all about?!

I remember the good ole days when they actually showed science fiction...
I was a MSTie...loved Tom Servo's fleshy parts that he didn't know about. Mike was good, Joel was awesome...Pearl and Bobo got tiresome, TV's Frank and Dr Forrester rocked! Push the button Frank!!!
I hope others read these choice comments and speak out.
I'm still hacked that Sci-Fi blew it with Farscape and then didn't put Serenity into a different scheduling line-up. A proven cult classic and they stick it on at 6:00 pm on a Friday night.
Now I give them credit for trying Battlestar G and making it work, but did they really do anything besides hit the play button. The producers, writers and actors have made that program and it shows.

My brain is fried, will continue ranting tomorrow.

Excelsior...sucks.

I searched Sci Fi network's online schedule and they list July 27 as the air date for the pilot. I read somewhere, perhaps another post or a SciFi news item that Amazing Screw on Head will be a show available for download on the Pulse.

In the latest issue of TVGuide, for the week of 7/10-7/16, on page 40,
they have a small pic of a lady holding Head. The info reads:
"This Thursday (7/13) online viewers will get a cyberspace sneak peak at two
shows that the Sci-Fi Channel will air on 7/27. Amazing Screw-On Head,
an animated pilot featuring the voices of Paul Giamatti, David Hyde Pierce
and Molly Shannon and Britsh series Garth Merenghi's Darkplace."

Neato news about the scifi stream, Otto. I think I'll be able to catch that.

I don't remember if anyone posted about this last year, but there's a pretty neat flash animation version of Screw-On Head online.

Great links, shonokin. I hadn't seen those. Thanks.

Uh... wouldn't the studio thats doing ASoH have links and art and
maybe some early animatronics?

NP Otto...
Ah ha! check this out. It's the website for Kickstart Productions which is doing ASOH. If you check around the site there's some pics and their sample reel (http://www.kickstartent.com/KSP_demo.html) has some animation from the show sprinkled throughout it. http://www.kickstartent.com

I saw a little bit of Stan's Superhero show since a friend of mine is doing all the artwork for it. It looks kinda hilarious. I'll tune in for an episode or two.

The Sample Reel Shonokin posted is a long download but there's a few Screw-on Head scenes right at the start so you needn't wait for the whole thing to load just to get an idea.

I cannot wait for this. I'll have to download it, most likely, but I can't wait for it.

"The Amazing Screw-On Head" is one of my favorite comics to give as a gift.

This just in:
http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/handheld/36963.html
SCI FI Pulse, SCIFI.COM's broadband channel, will premiere two original programs, the animated Amazing Screw-On Head and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, on July 13, two weeks before the shows debut on SCI FI Channel. SCI FI Pulse viewers will have the chance to affect the future of the Amazing Screw-On Head, based on Mike Mignola's comic book, the channel said.

Amazing Screw-On Head features the voices of Paul Giamatti, David Hyde Pierce and Molly Shannon in a story about a robot secret agent (Giamatti) working for the U.S. government under President Lincoln. After watching the pilot of Amazing Screw-On Head, SCI FI Pulse viewers will be asked to fill out an online survey crafted by the NBC Universal research department. The results of the online survey will help SCI FI executives decide whether or not to green-light the pilot to series. Produced by Kickstart Productions, the pilot was written by Bryan Fuller (Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls). Fuller and Jason Netter serve as executive producers, with Mignola as art director. Chris Prynoski directs.

Bryan Fuller is a talent and "Wonderfalls" was a nifty, quirky short-lived
series available now in a DVD set. Buy it, rent it, steal it. And then start
an OT thread thanking me.;)

The idea of a survey leaves me at odds. On the one hand, ASoH was only
a one-shot comic that was so good it could be BEER and didn't need a
second issue or any additional stories. But, (and ya knew there'd be a but)
as it moves to another medium maybe a series would expose ASoH to a
whole new audience. Should be fun to watch the survey results.

The Continuum has obtained a first look at images from The Amazing Screw-On Head, Sci Fi Channel's animated series based on Mike Mignola's comic book.

The pilot will debut on Thursday, July 27, following the premiere of Stan Lee's Who Wants to Be a Superhero?, but wil the network has that it will use the Internet to get direct viewer feedback on a pilot to help decide whether or not it will go to series.

The pilot wil be show on the network's new broadband channel, SCI FI Pulse (www.scifi.com), starting on Thursday, July 13.

Here's how the network describes the show:

"Amazing Screw-On Head is an outrageous, animated, sci-fi original half hour comedy featuring the voice talents of Paul Giamatti (Sideways), David Hyde Pierce (Frasier) and Molly Shannon (Saturday Night Live) based on the exploits of one of history's great unsung heroes. A secret agent working for the U.S. government, Screw-On Head (Giamatti) is a robot that screws his head onto a wide variety of bodies, and battles those who threaten our civilization."

Produced by Kickstart Productions, the pilot was written by Bryan Fuller. Fuller and Jason Netter serve as executive producers, with Mignola as art director. Chris Prynoski directed

That looks amazing! Not only does it look like they nailed Mike's style for animation pretty well, which I doubt id any easy task for animators, but it just is refreshing to see that 2-d animation is alive and well in America.

So that wasn't bad. I watched it last night and all of the voice work was great, the animation could have been a bit smoother, but it stayed true to the source material. DHP was great and yes, funny. Paul G was excellent and I didn't mind Molly Shannon...too bad about Mr. Dog

Water in my pantaloons.
