Theres the ole internet gossip that Axl will be handing in Chinese Democracy Vol.1 ( He's supposedly putting 2 out in less than a year) in late July to Universial so they can decide what they will do marketing wise. Then the band will start lining up American Tour dates thru the fall.

As of right now debate is on what the 1st single off this album will be. The likely contenders.

I.R.S

Its a very strong Guns n Roses vibe to it. The lyrics are pretty strong and fits in with current events. I can see this as a single in the way it can bridge older G'n'R fans to the new Guns n Roses sound.

The Blues

A lot of fans think this old 2002 track should be made the 1st single for how Rose delivers on the usual love song. It has the right hooks with Axl playing panio and starts real soft and is a sweet song that could be a good single. But time...( its been downloaded a lot since 2002) and whatever changes Rose has made to it studio wise hasn't been decided. The only version most avlaible is the 2002 concert versions.

There Was A Time

Now this one has good odds to be Guns n Roses 1st single. Rose told Eddie Trunk he loves this track the most on Chinese Democracy. It has some classic G'n'R with the guitars and Rose vocals. It has the best shot of making it since Rose has sang it at a few places.

Better

This track is one that brings debate . Its cleary a merging of Axl's influences in techno/pop/rock and other hybrids. Those who listen to the song a few times claim its a pretty damn interesting song and showcases the musicshin ship that Rose has taken this band on.

Better is such a departure that some argue fans would be shocked to see it credited to Guns n Roses. Many think it could be a good 2nd or 3rd single off the album. But Rose has made it a point to play the song at every Tour stop alongside I.R.S. It has a really...big chance to be that 1st single.

Catcher In the Rye

The demo I've heard is one beautiful song and Queen's Brian May worked on this one. Its such a good song it has a strong end to it as well. But Rose told Trunk he's not sold on it. That it needs more work and that it could not even make the final cut of the album !

Song we Haven't heard yet

Of the leaked songs thus far:

Catcher In the Rye
I.R.S
There Was A Time
Madagascar
The Blues
Chinese Democracy

Only 3 to 4 are confirmed for this 1st album it appears. The album will be 13 tracks according to most sources ( Rose has said that a 2nd album is nearing completion and he has 32 tracks nearly complete for the 1st,2nd and 3rd albums ) and that some of the downloaded songs could show up later on or become bootlegs ala Crash Diet.

That means that Rose could unviel a new song and make it a single for the North American Tour so its not unlikely. Of course as a single goes I'll vote for I.R.S as my choice. It really is a good song and it came down to it and T.W.A.T pretty much.

I went with "Better". I can't get enough of that song. The first time I heard it I must have played it about four or five times in a row.

I would go with "Better," too. But then again I've only heard two songs off the album.

You should go and get these other ones DonC. I admit I wanted to hear them and someone gave me links to hear them. You can go to www.youtube.com and pretty much pull up all the ones I've listed here. ;)

Hmm, I went and listened to a few songs on youtube. Granted the ones I heard were live versions that obviously sounded bad being live but so far I haven't heard anything to get me excited. And I loved Guns back in the day.

The best idea is to listen to the fanmade ones not live. You can pull up T.W.A.T , Catcher in the Rye , I.R.S , and Better there. Its really wild to hear these and see how much Axl's changed his approach.

By the time "Chinese Democracy" is released in 2031, I will probably have lost my hearing altogether. But I'll still vote for Catcher in the Rye.

Heres something wild....HMV of Canada has posted that Chinese Democracy will arrive Sept. 19th. However there is reason to doubt that since Rose said it would be late Fall for the albums release. Plus the record label will want a single to sell the album in that time.

The band does play a Sept. show in California though and could use it to kick off the US Tour.
