Thoughout the Avengers history the writer have done things with characters that some fan don't like. Tell me your rants(for the lack of a better word) about things that have been done to Avengers, Avengers supporting character and villians.

I'll start with my rant.

Henry Pym a wife beater? How on earth can you have a superhero commit such an act. Why has he never been fixed? What kind of message is marvel sending that he is treated like it never happened? I still can not believe that Henry Pym hasn't been found innocence of this charge. Or been punished severly for this. I believe marvel needs to fix Henry Pym and needs to ASAP.

Hank and Janet are kind of a weird couple.

Some writers write them all lovey dovey on while others reference it too heavily such as Austen who had a personal problem with Hank due to his disdain for abusive guys. The funny thing is that they've been divorced and yet they still went through all the reconciliation so it still feels as if they were still married because they won't likely date outside of each other with the exception of that whole Janet/Hawkeye thing which still seems wrong to me for some reason. The only issue that I thought had good tension and added a good rocky layer to their relationship was the racy Geoff Johns issue where they're in Vegas and fight Whirlwind.

In fact compared to the way Ultimate Giant Man dealt with Wasp, 616 looks pretty tame in comparison which doesn't make it right but it's less extreme since 616 Yellowjacket underwent more rigors at the time.

Tell you what, if NOone responds to ANYone else's rant, and no one rips each other, I'll let this puppy stand.

Without being a jerk I kinda have to agree with Haunt. While I understand that the intention of this thread is not exactly to debate with one another isn't it kinda inevitable given the very nature of the forum? Ah well...

Rant wise...is anyone gonna open the can o' worms that is Avengers Disassembled? You know, the story where Wanda is suddenly insane and everyone else catches an extreme case of the stupid™? Ignoring the fact Wanda already delt with the loss of her children and all...?

It's titled a rant thread.

A rant is categorically NOT a discussion.

At the same time, I don't exactly have an inherent problem with folks having rants, but I won't be having them rant at each other.

I was never pleased that first Marvel reveals Captain America's ID in the 90s of Tales of Suspense... and then, less than a year later, attempt to put the gene back in the bottle with Steranko's triology... and say that no one knows just who Captain America REALLY was....

And then we discover that it was Steve Rogers all along....
and no body else in the world remembers....
And then we're told that a Space Phantom is to blame... or get the credit for making everyone forget.

Now, does that make sense to you????
Not to me it don't.

Marvel, get your stuff together. Take a character in one direction and stick with it...

Now, on the topic of outing Daredevil....
Oh, never mind....
Let's let someone else rant for a while.....

i think all of the deaths in Disassembled were wasteful.

The deaths in Disassembled were wasteful.

Johns left Jack of Hearts so another writer could use him, but kinda killing him off at the same time. Then Bendis uses him to nuke Ant-Man.

And Hawkeye killing himself, absurd.

Man, I hated it when Wanda said "no more mutants" after HOM. The story would have been perfect for me if she hadn't had just said anything.

Avengers being reborn into Marvel's Superfriends with New Avengers. While not a bad idea in theory, why destory The Mighty Avengers to do it?

My biggest Gripe is Dissambled! I don't have a problem with characters being killed off, or a change of the whole landscape. I just felt that they should have gone out in style. something big and unforgetable. something that would would have changed Everything. Not Three issues of people standing around.

I just thought the Ending of the team deserved far more respect and admiration.

I'm still angry about it :p

I loved that line. When I first read it, and saw the flash and she says it, it had a real impact on me. That was first rate writing in my opinion.

Nothing wrong with the line in terms of its impact. I just hate how she said "no more mutants," and yet there were still mutants.

Back to topic, I hated how they wouldn't let someone like Justice be a memember (just reservist), when they let Wolverine in who didn't even want to be on the team (just wanted the money).

The only thing i would want to see is a group get picked and stay that way for a while. I dont need changes every 20 issues or even less. Make one great team to start with and stick to it. This group got what 19 issues in and its arlready being Disassembled. Thats always been my gripe with the Avengers though.

I am wondering...did we really need a Young Avengers book???

New Avengers.

*sigh*

The "BIG 7" of Marvel, they supposedly said. Instead we got a couple of big guns, a never was, a never will be, and a might be.

Anyway, lineup aside, there's soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much wasted potential in the book. Give it to someone who can consistently handle multiple characters, doesn't play favorites more often than not, and will have it so that it's not a landmark issue merely because the team ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING.

And then there's the Ronin debacle. I wouldn't be so pissed about it if they wouldn't have hyped it as the mother to end all secrets at the time. Just a nice little foot-note before the arc started, and suspense up until the reveal would have sufficed. Not months of fake promo art, misleading interviews and teasers galore to lead up to the uber let-down "surprise" of some obscure-arse Daredevil character who I believe was never heard from again anyway.

Oh, and Cage should have kept the Wrecker's crowbar. :p

Since this is a question (not so much a rant) i'm going to reply. Probably not, but does any story ever really have to be told? The fact is, it is a great thing that they decided to do the YA storyline because it is one of the best books out there. So, yes, we do need this book. Plus, it's great to see that they are developing what will be the next generation of heroes.
