It's just not always the big cross over under your nose stuff.

Eternals is looking great and Moon Knight is getting better and better with each comic, they have turned a C list hero into something I really look forward to reading.

Marvel Team-Up has been excellent from the start.

Speedball has even got a moment to shine recently as he was one of the few people that teamed up to save all the superheros in the marvel Universe.

Daredevil and Captain America just might both be the best they have ever been!!! Young Avengers and Runaways actually managed to introduce young NEW heros that dont suck!!! She hulk has a funny fresh take. Astonishing Xmen is an old school great comic. Ultimates is damn near the most revolutionary exciting comic on the shelves. its a very good time for Marvel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sadly, the Thing just got cancelled, Young Avengers is on haiatus, and Ares is only a limited series. :(

The Runaways is possibly the best thing Marvel is publishing. If you're not reading it, you're missing out.

Brubaker's Captain America is so good, I went to the trouble and expense of purchasing two of the orginal art pages. They are the only pages I own, and I've never done that before, and I didn't even like Captain America that much until I read this one, but once I saw that first issue for the first time, I HAD to have them. Does that make sense?

No "just might" about it, Daredevil is easily the best it's ever been. That last issue was as killer as it gets. Just having this arc revolve around the prison setting is very cool. Then throw in multiple incarerated villains, a riot, AND Frank Castle? I think I just pooped.

Agreed. I'm really pleased with Daredevil, Cap, Iron Man and Astonishing X. I'm also excited to see how Brubaker's new Uncanny team develops. Honorable mentions for kicking ass also go to:
-Moon Knight
-Civil War
-Planet Hulk
-Ultimates 2

Thing #8 (released yesterday) is the last issue in the present run. However there have been suggestions that good sales for the forthcoming trade paperback could cause Marvel to re-evaluate the title, so we may see a re-launch a la She-Hulk.

For me, of books still active? She-Hulk and Ms Marvel, without question.

For me it would have to be Daredevil and Captain America. The stories are great. Another would be Hulk its going good so far. Marvel is really putting out great stuff. UnCanny X-Men may also be another one the 475 was very good. Brubaker is one of my favorite writers at this time.

Cap has been excellent beyond words.

I've loved the Thing and will miss it (And hope the Trade sells well).

The Annihilation Nova mini has really snared me and I can't wait until #4 comes out.

For me, the only two Marvel books that are really good right now are Daredevil and Ultimates. Otherwise, color me very unimpressed. Unfortunately, Ultimates 2 is almost over and they're already setting up Daredevil for the retcon to come, so I don't expect this to last much longer.

Agreed. Runaways is the best! Really good stuff.

Also, I think a comic that is underrated is "Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane". Its a fun book, filled with Teen Drama/Angst. And its not all about super-heroes. Gives a nice break from that kind of stuff.

My two fave X books at the moment have to be New X-Men and Astonishing. There's some good stuff in those too.

I'm loving Marvel right now. Eternals, Runaways, NextWave, Astonishing X-Men, Ultimates, Young Avengers, Civil War, Uncanny X-Men (with Brubaker), X-Factor. All great stuff.

And I can't wait for next week to see what Carey will do with X-Men.

Planet Hulk rocks my world! Greg Pak is a genious.

I'm incredibly sad that the Thing has been cancelled. That was my feel good, laugh-out-loud title to read each month.

Besides that loss, I think the future is only bright for Marvel.

I beg to differ. Moonknight #1 was terrible. Were there 3 lines of dialogue in the whole thing?

Wolverine: Origins #1 was awful, as well.

Brubaker's work is probably the best thing at Marvel right now. Bendis varies (His New Avengers is usually good, but he's dropped the ball on Ultimate Spider-Man), and books like Young Avengers and Astonishing X-Men, which are really good, can't stick to a reliable schedule. Marvel is not in good shape.

The only books from Marvel I would actually recommend to someone are:
Daredevil(Brubaker's Run)
Captain America(Brubaker's Run)
Uncanny X-Men(Brubaker's Run)
Civil War

Now Im not even that big a Brubaker fan really, but at this moment the best stuff coming out of Marvel is written by him, and it's all very good.

There were no lines of dialogue in the first issue, actually.

But it was still good. Good primer on what Marc Spector has been up to all this time, and a good introduction to what Moon Knight is for people who've never read a MK book before.

Yeah, I agree. I was on a DC kick there for awhile. Infinite Crisis just really turned me on for some reason. I'm a little bored with 52, and Marvel is really starting to ramp up it's game in the face of DC's competition.

Ultimates 2 #12 is (finally) coming out. Civil War is heating up. I also loved Marvel Zombies and couldn't believe Marvel had the balls to print some of that stuff.

Planet Hulk kicks ass, and everyone knows I can't wait to see him return next year. Captain America is once again the most badass hero in the Marvel U, like he should be (Wolverine had his 15 years of fame, geez spread it around a bit Marvel)

All in all this is a very good time for the comic book medium. Tons of great titles. Excellent creative teams making the best books of their career. I promise you all we'll look back on these stories in 30 years and consider this the "Modern Golden Age" of comics.

I have no patience with the crybabies, continuity goblins, and snug complainers who whine about the current state of comics. I just finished DAREDEVIL # 86 about a half-hour ago, and man, ... it was just like being 14 again, and reading the Frank Miller issues.

NEXTWAVE is great "Kooky 70's Steve Gerber-ish" pop fun. The reviewer who said "This belongs on Adult Swim" was right on the money. PLANET HULK has a great 70's style story (Hulk crashes on Barsoom. Fights other monsters & nails hot alien chicks in chain mail bikinis), but it has the best of modern comics, too. ULTIMATES is pure adrenaline, with the most exqusite line work since George Perez at his prime. I'm glued to CIVIL WAR (and FRONTLINE might actually be better). And Bendis? Even when he has a bad story, his dialouge is sharp and humanizing.

Yep, things are pretty tasty in Funnybook Land right now.

I think it's confirmed it will end with #25. At least, that's the word in Kirkman's forum.

Both DC and Marvel are putting out tons of kickass books right now.

Crisis was awesome...then it ends and we get right back into the awesome with Civil War.

It's a good time to be a comic fan, IMO.

Totally agree. Hence, I am broke every week. :D
