Iron Man Info pls

Hi, just a quick question concerning Iron Man. How come every once in a while I see the suit running around with the New Avengers doing is thing but when they show Stark, he is at what seems to be a control center? At first I though he was controlling it remotley but a few panels later the Iron Man that was doing his thing takes off the helmet to show Stark inside. I have just gotten back into reading am trying to get everything straight but soooo much has changed. :confused:

He's inside, but the "control center" is how he visualizes his interface with the suit. It's a metaphor.

i thought tony controls iron man via remote control sometimes too ? or did anyway
