After Civil War is said and done what character, who was never an Avenger will earn his/her spot on the team?? I dont know why but I have a feeling it is going to be Speedball.

In Wizard before Civil War was out they said it was between these 4 i should have wrote this before. Speedball, Ares, Hyperion and Iron Fist.

Ares is the most logical choice.
That's got to be Ares Jr... if we can believe Marvel's advance press... Didn't they say he's up for a guest star or mini series shortly? We've never heard of him before.... and after Ares Senior turned Earth and the Avengers inside out back in Volume 1, issues 98-100, I'd say he'd NEVER be welcomed... (Think about it... the God of WAR???? Hmmmm... now that I think about it, Civil War might have had an instigator behind the scenes that only Thor or another god might have detected... Hmmmmmm......)

So are we going to hear the logic behind those two choices?

sure. marvel said that Ares would be on a team. he's just recently gotten a push with his series. and i think he's going to kill his kid Alexander, despite everyone thinking it's going to be the other way around. the greek's were all about tragedy.

It'll definetly be Ares, since they said he'd be joining a major superhero team after Civil War, and Bendis and Quesada have been hinting to it for a while now. I hope it's the REAL Ares and not his son though. Now THAT would be interesting, since he was a big-time Avengers villain...it would almost be like Apocalypse joining the X-men, but not quite that bad. I think it would be interesting, because Ares has a son now, so his way of thinking may have changed a bit...plus, it would be fun having him and Wolverine on the same team. I think it would be comical. :)

I said Speedball because he'll be playing an even bigger role than he is now. Maybe trying to redeem himself for what happend???

I just thought of something, what if the newest avenger is Alex in his father's body (his dad's body being 100% olympian and much stronger) Ares obviously loves his son very much and would rather die himself tnen see his son hurt.

So maybe Ares will sacrifice his life (soul) but give Alex his virtually immortal body to become a hero instead of a villain like himself.

so their going to take this guy who was just deemed a failure and make him an Avenger? they actually monitored She-Hulk before offering her an invitation back in the Avengers.

that would be a really short membership, since they don't allow minors to join.

Good point but i cant see Hyperion joining. Im not familiar with Ares. And Iron Fist i also dont think he would make the cut.

They normaly don't allow KILLERS either, that's why this new avenger team is so different from the old one.

.
Well, the Avengers don't have a very good track record when it comes to offering membership in their group. Look at the early years....
Five originals join up, second issue, their big powerhouse leaves in a fit. Exit Hulk.
Then, Capt shows up in an ice cube. Instant membership. Probably the best choice possible. (Could this have been what Kang/Immortus/Space Fantoms were all trying to prevent from happening???!!!!)
Next, WonderMan shows up, they sign him up, and boom, he turns on them. Boom, he's dead.
Next, the big boys depart, and they offer membership to three supposed ex-criminals with egos to boot!
Now, on their fourth attempt, they welcome the Swordsman, and boom, he turns on them, and not only betrays them, but does Mandy's dirtywork, as well.
Next, PowerMan appears, and although he embarasses them, they don't offer him a position.
We get an ex-enemy, the Black Widow, welcomed into the fold.
A warring, brutish Olympian God named Hercules welcomed into the fold...
A mysterious Black prince from a far off land welcomed on Cap's say so (Now, he WAS a good addition, I'll admit!) but with no real known history...
An uncertain robotic android tries to kill Jan, but not really, so they admit him, and he reveals his programming to betray them AGAIN, and admits Ultron... (That's OK, Vision, we'll let you stay... just don't do it again. Ooops!)
And a mysterious insect man shows up, saying, I've killed Giantman, so admit me... and they DO! or at least, after he's revealed to be the same Giantman with some serious mental issues and identity problems... (Ok, come-on back, Hank, we're sure your breakdown is in the past... Don't remember creating our greatest foe???? No problem! Why not stay on the active list?)
Lets see, have I forgotten anyone?
Oh yeah, that hot head Pietro... quits the Avengers in anger, doesn't return after Magneto is defeated, just runs back in our door and demands our help... No problem....."Welcome Back!"

These guys really do not do a good job of background checks and admit any potential villian into their midst to betray them later!!!:D

but that's why Iron Man will need Ares. he's lost Wolverine.

p.s. the Superhuman Registration Act doesn't allow minors either.

Well, I am going to go against the grain here and say it will be Iron Fist. They were not allowed to use him in Heroes for Hire because of "plans" for him after Civil War. Frankly he fits best in Heroes for Hire, so if they are using him elsewhere it would be in a higher profile book. I would say he has earned it at least as much as Cage has.

p.s. I think he may be the other DD running around

I'm hoping for Ares. Or possibly Makkari from the Eternals. With a new series out he'd be getting a boost. And it's been a while since a speedster has been on the team.

The thing is guys, you don't know if its gonna be the Avengers. They said a major superhero team, meaning it can be any other team besides Avengers, maybe a new major one.

Man, that would definitely be a twist considering how just about everything is pointing to Hawkeye being the impostor. I agree would you that he fits better in Heroes for Hire. I actually liked that book a lot the first 5 or so issues.

Looks like Ares will be the new guy. I'm hoping they throw a wrench though and bring in someone completely unexpected.

Wow, that's really good, Dingo...
I hadn't thought of him. He's graceful, athletic, nimble, has manual dexterity, has not manifested any other powers, seems at ease with heroes... he'd be able to fit well with Luke Cage, and if Luke vouches for him, Capt would trust him... plus, cap wouldn't make him unmask...or if he does, it'll really knock all those Matt Murdock critics for a loop!:D
I like your thinking.
It also explains why it can't be Hawkeye yet, cause they all would have reacted to his voice, saying "Man, this will really change how we all do business..." (though that sounds like something Clint would say...)

If Thor is back, I doubt the new member will be Ares. Seems overkill to have two gods on the team, even if Thor doesn't immediately rejoin (we know from experience that he tends to drift in and out of the lineup).

I love the idea of Iron Fist on the team. He fulfills the hand-to-hand combat specialty position that Wolverine had filled.

Out of the choices, if Luke Cage stays on the Avengers, I would love to see Iron Fist join him. Like old times plus some.

Thor might not even be on the Avengers. He could always end up on FF.
