The problem with having them valued by someone else is that they need to inspect the condition of the book itself to determine its true value. What you should do, rather, is purchase the newest Overstreet guide and price them yourself. If you have anything old and worth the trouble, you can send it away to be officially graded, priced, and sealed.
But if it's just a longbox full of old Nineties comics, just pick up an Overstreet guide and get a rough idea of how much you'd be willing to let the lot of 'em go for.

Then you'd definitely be better off pricing it yourself and putting it on eBay. If you have runs on any specific titles, you might want to seperate them into different lots. Might get better offers that way.
