This fall there're two action RPG games coming out for us to play. One has the heroes of Marvel teaming up and the other one has the Justice League doing the hero thing.

Which game do you look torward to the most out of these two?

I voted for Marvel Ultimate Alliance becuase you can play like in 20 different characters instead of 7. Besides the story seems more interesting and it streches all around the Marvel Universe.(Atlantis, Skrull throne room, Shield HQ, and probaly alot more like the Baxter Building and Avengers Mansion)

Justice League...because I just like DCs heroes better.

Besides...DC needs a good video game...it's been too long.

I heard it was just Supes, WW, Batman, Lantern, Flash, Jonnz, and Zattana? You sure that's confirmed? Can I get a link if you have one?

I'm going to play both, but I'm more looking foward to the Marvel game because from the little I've seen of both it looks better (visually). Also, while Batman and Martian Manhunter are my two favorite characters the thought of playing as Thor excites me more.

Ultimate Alliance all the way. Looks like it's going to be an X-Men Legends clone with more diverse characters.

the JLA game on the other hand looks like crap so far. Though that could change and I'm hoping it will cause we really need a good DC comic character game.

Even though I'm a DC nut, and hope to God that JLH is the heat, I'm awaiting Marvel Alliance more. Simply because if they just use the X-Men Legends formula, then the game is going to be at least "very good"

I'm liking Ultimate Alliance way more. DC needs to actually start trying on the video game side of things. JLH looks like they, and the actual creators of the game, are putting little to no effort in it.

I mean, there is a very small list of good DC video games out there, and one of the best is Death and Return of Superman, and that's not saying much.

Having played JLH, I can say it stands up pretty well against, say, X-Men Legends 2.

That said, while MUA wasn't playable, what I saw demonstrated was a couple steps beyond XML2. Granted, it was on a 360, but more moves, more powers, more characters (JLH only lets you play 2 at a time), a more immersive feel with multiple camera angles, and they gave me a nifty deck of Marvel playing cards.

Im going to buy both games but im going to be more interested in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. There are more characters to pick, and they really give you alot of variety. I never really pictured Captain America and Ghost Rider fighting side by side against the forces of evil.

MUA looks great, just watching the trailer made me excited. I played a little of XML1 and never got around to XML2, and well I enjoyed the format, I just couldn't get immesersed in the first game.

Like the Marvel Heroes fighting games, I love building my own team from a multitude of Marvel characters.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance no question although I buy both.

1. More Playable Characters Selection
2. A Team of 4 rather than 2(only one of which you chose)
3. It will be released on the 360 wii and playstation 3 so far no plans for JLH on the new generation

MUA, hands down, because it's a devil I know.

If they just ripped off XML and XML2 and slapped on the new characters with new abilities, I wouldn't even complain.

MUA mainly because I'm a huge fan of of the XML series and it will be great to play some of the characters.

JLH is on my buy list but I really don't care for any of DCs big name characters and that's all that are going to make it into the game. Once this game is in the $20 bin I'll pick it up and whine about how it should have been.

Marvel puts out a lot of video games, but how often do you get a chance to play a Justice League game?

I vote for Justice League Heroes.

I'd be more interested in Ultimate Alliance if you could play some of the less well-known Marvel characters. I'd love to play as Squirrel Girl.

At least 140 characters. You never know.

I mean, hell, Galactus' Punisher is in the game. Not Frank Castle, but the Punisher robot Galactus used that has had all of maybe 4 appearances in the MU ever.

Can anyone remember the last good DC game? Maybe Batman Vengeance... maybe.

Marvel has a better track record in this particular medium. Like many others, I'm certainly HOPING for the best as I do intend on giving both a try. But I'm not at the point where there's any valid reason to EXPECT it to be a great game.

The Marvel game already has a bit of a track record since it's an expanded version of Xmen legends. I'm of course expecting MORE than just an Xmen legends game with more marvel characters... but if that's all we got it would at least be a pretty descent game. So no worries there.

Also, the simple fact that the Marvel game has so many more characters. DC doesn't know how to promote characters outside of their Big 7. Marvel does a better of recognizing that many marvel readers are interested in more than just Spidey, Hulk, and Wolverine. This game is a perfect example of that. That's why the Marvel game I beleive is going to offer more bang for your buck.

Hopefully the next few Justice Leage games will expand the DC universe a bit. Till that day happens, I'll be more than content exploring the MU in Ultimate Alliance.

I hope there is more to MUA than just XML with more characters. Those games were just glorified beatemups.

Basara

I hope there is more to MUA than just XML with more characters. Those games were just glorified beatemups.

Glorified beat ‘em ups that completely changed in the way one played based on which of the 15 different characters one wanted to play as. For example, playing as Jean with flight and telepathic powers that confuse enemies plays completely different than playing as the super quick brawler Wolverine.

Add to that the ability to control your team with the pull of a trigger. I’ve actually set up teams that so compliment each other with their powers, that they become invincible when I tell them to activate their abilities. And that’s just solo play. The means for friends to jump in and out of the game at any time in a mission is a feature that cannot be overlooked for how cool it really is.

Not to mention, that characters with super strength actually can pick up Wolverine and perform the fastball special.

Then there is the story (at least for the first X-Men Legends), which realistically could have been a two year arc in Uncanny X-Men. Seriously, look at everything that happens from the time Magma almost gets captured at the beginning to the final battle. You had some massive battle royals there as a result of some serious planning by the bad guys, both human and mutant. X-Men Legends has the best comic book story of any video game, period.

Add to that something fans had been praying for ever since X-Men first appeared in video games, actual real Danger Room sessions (Yes, I know, the first Genesis X-Men game had the Danger Room too, but X-Men Legends had it as it has always been shown in the comics, as a training room). There were even historical Danger Room scenarios of past comic book events. Tell me you didn’t get a thrill fighting Juggernaut when he first busts into the X-Mansion or playing Wolvie escaping Weapon X.

Also, the creators threw in tons of extras showing the history of the X-Men universe, from trivia, actual interactions with X-Men characters who introduce themselves to you and give their history if you ask, to personal effects in their actual rooms in the Mansion, should you desire to explore it. It was quite clear that the creators of XML were huge fans of the X-Men with all the extra stuff they threw into the game. Being a huge X-Men fan myself, I was completely geeked by XML.

Calling X-Men Legends just a glorified beat ‘em up is like calling GTA just a game about stealing cars. I’ll be quite satisfied if MUA is just like XML with more characters. XML was damn near a perfect beat ‘em up. If the creators of MUA show as much love into putting that together as they did XML, but upgrade the visuals and voice acting (the only 2 real flaws of XML), I’ll be one happy camper.

Obviously, I’m salivating at getting my grubby little hands on MUA.

I just didn't feel that it was as deep as you say. It was basically walk around, use powers to cross a bridge, punch things a lot, use some powers, repeat ad naseum.

The creators did a lot to include trivia bits and the sorts of things that make fanboys gush, but if you had never heard of the characters before playing the game, I doubt you would feel as highly about it.

Well, there's only so much depth you can give to a 4 player game with this many diverse characters. It's good at what it's suppossed to be.

Sorry you feel that way.

But you really didn't play the whole game, did you? Sure, if you break it down to its bare essentials, yes XML is just like as you described.

However, so are a lot of games. Halo and Half-Life are just run around and shoot things ad naseum. GTA is just steal cars and shoot people ad naseum. Street Fighter and Soul Caliber are just punch and kick people until they fall down ad naseum. Final Fantasy is just choose your action via a menu and level build ad naseum.

Of course, all these games are so much more than that.

XML is too. After all, why walk when you can fly or better yet teleport? Bridges? Only needed if you don't have flyers. Powers? So many to choose from. Do I blast the suckers using Cyclops? Single shot or wide beam? Punch them into submission using Colossus? Don't feel like punching, then throw a car or heavy piece of machinery that them? Multi-teleport punch using Kurt? Fry them using Storm? Don't like lightning, how about a nice tornado to throw them around? Brain fry them using Jean? Slice and dice using Wolvie? How about a dive bomb attack from a high altitude Rogue?

That's a bare fraction of the powers displayed in this game.

For example, are you even aware of the fact that you can make teammates damn near invulnerable using a combination of Iceman's Ice Armor and Jean's TK shield? They are invulnerable if you also include Storm's Wind Shield. This is stuff straight out of the comics, X-Men using teamwork and combining powers to become even more powerful.

And I've already mentioned the Fastball Special.

I appreciate the massive effort that so obviously went into creating a game that so completely immersed the fans in the X-Men universe. I'm really hoping the extreme care taken to create one of the best superhero games out there is also being taken with MUA.

Like I said, if they do, I'll be one happy camper.

The Batman Begins video game last year. Yeah that game was ok. Heres also the thing about dc, they have never used anything that isn't mainstream, I mean marvel did a punisher game that was honestly better than any game dc has done. Maybe DC should attempt a badass Triumph or Aztek game lol.

Justice League Heroes looks really good. From what I can tell it looks to play differently than the X-Men Legends games, more of an action beat-em-up with strong RPG elements than the other way around. The guys making it did Baulder's Gate: Dark Alliance and others, so they know what they're doing, and it'll probably be a quality experience.

MUA, on the other hand, looks fan-frigging-tastic. The guys making it are obviously big Marvel fans, as the variety of heroes and villains is astounding (we're getting the frigging Wrecking Crew!). All of the cinematics look so incredible I want these guys to a full-length movie. And the gameplay is an expanded version of the X-Men Legends combat, which is already great. I mean, I bought X-Men Legends 2 used a week ago and I'm about half way through, letting the computer do all the stats and leveling up (though looking at Basara's posts, I may want to go back and start tinkering with them), and I'm having a blast. So a sequel with better combat and graphics, a larger cast, and more scenarios can't be a bad thing.

So, since JLH comes out a couple weeks earlier, it should make a nice appetizer for MUA :)
