Keeping with the celebrations of Cyclops week, I wanted a thread to discuss the relationship between Scott Summers and his little brother Alex!

How do YOU view the relationship between these two? Is Havok constantly in his older brothers shadow? How do you think Cyclops feels about Havok being an X-Man?
JEALOUSY~~?
BITTERNESS~~?
DISAPPOINTMENT~~?

Discuss these two characters and there feelings towards one another...

I think Cyclops is proud of his brother. I believe he really wants him to be a leader, a great leader but feels that something always is preventing from reaching that point. With Havok I think it's more along the lines that he wants the samethings Scott has but doesn't quite know how to do it. Cyclops developed his own way of leading and Havok hasn't done that yet.

I prefer when they're at each others throats.

Right now, for example, I'm loving the dynamic between Ultimate Cyclops and Ultimate Havok (one of the best Ultimate characters, right there with Ultimate Longshot).

Bendis had a good scene at the end of the New Mutants arc. Havok was telling Cyclops that he always thought when the time came he would be able to react like he does, use his powers and save the day but when it came he just froze and Cyclops was there doing it naturally. Even though if happens in the Ultimate U. it's still a good parallel to the 616. It's natural for Cyclops to lead for Havok it's not, he has to work at it.

Ultimate Cyclops is rational as a leader should be.
Ultimate Havok is passionate as a hot head in love should be.

What I like is that even if they are complete opposites, they both understand the concept of Brotherhood as we see in the end of Magnetic North, in the way they defeat "Magneto".

I think the latter X-Factor issues went a long way in bringing Havok out of Cyclops' shadow. However it's a role he seems to slip back into when he's back at the mansion in the X-fold.

I'm still of the opinion that the X-Men is Cyclops' thing. I'm not quite sure why Havok's still there. He had his own, different goals. If anything I'm surprised we don't see a more resentful Alex. He's constantly had his own life put on hold as he's dragged into mutant affairs...but then again that applies to many X-Men.
