Does anybody use these off of the Marvel website, or do you guys just use pull lists at your comic shops? It seems like you could save a lot by using the website, shipping excluded.

I subscribed once like 12years ago. Problems was the books would always be damaged by the mail man and they seemed to be mailed whenever. Not sure if its like that today. Id say do it if you dont care about the books condition.

I and a friend ordered together. Currently we subscribe to New Avengers, the Thing (And it's about to switch over*Sigh*), and Captain America. Sometimes they come before the stores get them, other times after (lately it seems to be more late than early). It's got its good and bad points. It can be very convienent, but mistakes can also be made like anything else.

Do they still send each book with a flimsy backing board or do they mail them together in a box? I'm a condition nagger so I may have saved money but still felt ripped off cus I would get them with creases and all folded up.

Flimsy backboard with a wrap with the word "Please Do Not Bend" on the backboard. So it depends on how much you trust your mail man, and if you have a small mail box I guess.

"Plenty" is a relative term. :)
Everyonce in awhile they have good deals to lure folks in.
Right now, for example, Marvel has some sort of combo offer for 12 issues of Moon Knight and New Avengers each for 38 bucks (Okay, $37.94, but really, let's just round up) IF you like both series and planned on getting them anyway, that works out to each issue costing roughly a $1.60 this would be a great deal compared to the $2.99 per each issue.. but that's only IF You wanted to get them anyway. Also, the deal may be over by the time those twelve issues are up, so you may have a hard choice at the end of it.

If you get a single subscription, it's more like 2 bucks an issue. Still it can save you a bit of cash in the long run. The problem is it can take a while for them to switch something over if you have a series jump the shark on you. And, of course, not every series will be up for Subscription. You'll still need to put Minis on your pull list.

Of course, prices for subscriptions may go up as well, just as the regular comic prices did, I sure hope not.

I have gotten like 40 issue from marvel and only one was damaged. If they wouldn't come so late after the books due date in stores I would get more. Most of the time my books would get here like 10-14 days late and there were tme that it took almost 20 days for them to come. I do have to say that the last issue of ASM came 2 days before the due date so maybe they changed something.

Dont know if I can mention this here but there is an online store I visit where you save like a dollar off each new book and shipping is only like 3.50. Good deal really. I'll be cryptic here jst do a search for eastcoast and then comics and you will find the site.

Wow, I'm completely astonished by that phenomenon.

Oh yeah on the price thing. It depends on the deal. The reason I go ASM was because I got a deal on Astonishing X-Men that was $38 for 24 issue. But then Marvel switched it to ASM.

Well, my local comic shop, Kingdom Comics, will give me a 10% discount if I pull a few titles, so that's like 30 cents an issue, and I think it's 15% discount if I get more than three, so it's like 45 cents/issue. They have a website, I just went there today for the first time, and it actually seems really cool. They even had Civil War 1 because he ordered a ton beforehand, and then made a second order that was almost as large, and I got the third last one I think. It cost me $4, but I'm really satisfied with my purchase. In a year or so I guess it will be worth a dollar more, and then the price will rise further in time.
I got a little off-topic, but I now see the pro's and con's of marvel subscriptions. Thanks all.

I subscribe to some and put some in my pull list.

For me getting comics in the mail is really convenient because my nearest comic shop is 20 minute drive away and I don't have my own car so I have to hitch a ride with my sister.

I do get a little upset when my comics come late but the savings more than make up for it.

I once subscribed to Deadpool and I never subscribed again. Once an issue was so late that I went out and bought it, only for it to FINALLY arive in the mail about a week later. It was only about 4 weeks late.

Pull and Hold ever since. Guaranteed my books on the day they come out, plus my store offers a 10% discount for pull and hold customers.
