Happy Canada Day !

To all our Canadian Hellbuddies. We're not all that patriotic but today we can wave a flag without embarrasment.

I had maple syrup for breakfast.

That's right, just a big ol' bowl of delicious maple syrup!

No, I put it on apple crisp. :)

I'll be heading out on my bike in just a few minutes to check out the events and displays on Prince's Island.

I guess I should dig my Sheila Copps flag out and hang it from my balcony.

Later we will go down to the Stampede Grounds to watch the fireworks!

Morna and I are working (Yay, owning your own business) and later will join Tad and Family. I think we'll watch fireworks tonight too.

We appreciate the gesture, Jack, but we would never ask anyone to make such a big sacrifice.

Here's to the country that has three, count 'em three, comic book shops across the street from our hotel, to the nation that has made gravy, potatoes and curd into a gourmet treat, to the people who say "soh-ree" if you step on their toe, what a great place, CANADA!

We celebrated with glass blowing and poutine tonight. Sweet.

Morna and I thought it might be nice to bring Tad by the studio on Canada Day and teach him how to blow glass but things kind of went down hill once we got going and I'm afraid Tad ended up eating one of Morna's knuckle sandwiches.

Dear Canada - -

I used to hate canada, because they're like americans only they dress like they's from the 90's. but now, i realize that canada is pretty sweet. They've got some good stuff, like mountains, and also beers. Although, I've never had canadian beer, but I can only imagine that it's better than the American beer I'm drinking at the moment.

I'm sorry I gave you so much shit, canada. you didn't deserve it. except you spawned todd mcfarlane (pun intended, yo), and he's a corporate douche bag that forgot how to spot his goddamn blacks. but you make up for it, because Tegan and Sarah came from canada, and they are wonderful indie rock. and you also gave the world the wonder that is Strapping Young Lad, which makes with the brutal metal all day long. Good stuff, canada.

cheers, happy canada day, and also someone get me another goddamn beer--

ps
I'm serious about the canadians dress like they're from the 90s crack. you're ten years behind in fashion, but lightyears ahead of us in metal, so it's all good.

pps
not really light years ahead in metal, because we have LAMB OF GOD. PURE AMERICAN METAL, SUCKAHS!!

I'm...uh...listening to Thom Yorke. But I bet he's been to Canada!

He has! I saw him and his band (from the third row) three years ago in Vancouver. And it was completely awesome, mister.

As I floated down the Bow River on a raft with a half-naked Olympic swimmer, a sexy biochemist, two bodybuilders and a schoolteacher with a lazy eye, I thought to myself, "This is what you should be doing on a day like today. What it is, to be man beneath so blue a sky!"

Then I nearly drowned, we got hailed on, some cops yelled at us, and we had to smuggle a raft full of junk through an outdoor concert. Then there was some Thai food, and fireworks, and now I'm off to British Columbia for 27 hours.

Pretty much the best Canada Day ever. I love you so much, Canada.

They were more colourful than ever and I love the ones that blow up and turn into swirling squiggles of fire.

I celebrated Canada Day by moving apartments and keeping things in the know, we had a few canadian beers after all was moved from truck into residence. The only real downspot of the move? The only comics from my small collection that got bent? MouseGuard 1, 2 and 3..not bent enough to reallyt cause me too much grief, but just enought to cause me to go grr at the whole process...

I'm not from Canada but I have visited. It was a lot like America, only not. :)

Happy Canada Day to all of our Canadian brothers and sisters in arms!
