View Full Version : custom paper shirt for comic HB w/ coat

I mentioned this in another thread but didn't want to hijack it.

I was thinking about making a shirt for my comic hellboy figure. He has a tank top type thing on the cover art for the RPG sourcebook and I thought it looked cool.

I made this out of paper using a direct scan of the cover, slightly altered. For anyone interested just cut along the lines and scoth tape the 4 strips that wrap around in the back and you are good to go. The picture here is of my first try not what I uploaded here. I'm probably going to fiddle with it a little bit more but it's good enough as it is and I wanted to share. Oh, and this only works on the figure with the coat.

Very clever idea! Looks great on the figure as well. Might perhaps limit mobility a bit, but otherwise it looks really keen! :D

Yeah, he mostly just stands there as it is so mobility isn't an issue. The paper is so perfect because you can kind of smuch it against his chest and it starts to crinkle to the shape of his muscles so it looks more realistic and it keeps in the style of the sculpt. I would imagine this could also be done with cloth using the same pattern I made. That would give the mobility back but I'm not sure about the look.

I don't think he has much mobility to begin with. :)

Dang DB, nice idea with the paper shirt. It looks like a paint job in the pic.

Paint marks? Do you mean the marks near his abs? If so, those are in the art I just added 2 or three more in photoshop
