Maybe Turner should do Astonishing after Whedon/Cassaday? I know I wouldn't mind seeing it, and it would sell in huge numbers.

Looks great and I really like the job he did on Beast and Emma. As for him taking over Astonishing I like Turner's art but he is very slow and I don't want this book coming out 4 times a year, so no on that.

Here is a link to the image! (http://wizarduniverse.com/_images_/000737/CWXMen1.jpg)
I like the cover too, although I have to agree with those who say Emma has become the new Wolverine for X-Men comics, at least.
Edit: Opps. The image didn't pop up the first time.

Its pretty nice. The 'scratchy' lines kind of remind me of Liefeld (but no way as bad) which is a bit of a negative IMO, but at least they look like how they should look.

Eww! That's it exactly... like a strange lovechild between Liefield and Jim Lee or something. Static mannequins and scratchy linework galore... why couldn't they have gotten something like a Davis, Pacheco or Leonardi variant? :(

Because Turner's art sells better.

Does the fact that this cover clearly shows Emma as still part of the X-Men spoil the outcome, at least in part, of Whedon's Astonishing?
Very good cover though.

Because Turner's art sells better.
True.
But these days, the variant mania is so rampant once again that it might not even matter who does the art - it'd sell and be a hot mega-find regardless.

Ooooh I LOVE this cover. I've been waiting for Michael Turner to grace us with some X-Men covers. Have you guys seen his cover for Ultimate X-Men 75 yet? It's stunning.
I like the idea of Michael pencilling an arc of Astonishing. I think he actually has to draw a few issues for Marvel in addition to the covers. I mean, yes, he has become an extremely slow artist- probably an average of an issue every 3 months- but that's most likely because he has to maintain Aspen Comics, and provide covers to like a million projects. However, it should be noted that his 4 issues of "Superman/Batman" were all on time each month, so perhaps he could manage an arc of Astonishing X-Men. :)

What do you mean? Other than Jean (as she's dead), all the remaining Original Five are represented on the cover. Man, I miss them being in a book together. Maybe for the next reload. :)

Even before Tuner started his own company and before he got cancer he was a slow artist. And his Superman/Batman did not come out on time every month. Every issue had a month's delay between them and one had two months I think. While I do like Turner's art and would love to see him do an X-title I think it would be better for him to do a mini rather then an ongoing.

I'm holding out for an issue #500 having the Original 5 either at Harry's Hideaway or Cafe-a-Go-Go sitting around and reflecting. That's my milestone, double size it and all :). Hell even have Xavier and Magneto walk in together.

When he was on witchblade, didnt' he have someone doing the backgrounds, and he just did like the characters or something like that?

It's a big X-Men group shot, and Wolverine is nowhere to be found.

Maybe on covers only. After seeing his interior work on Superman/Batman, i'ts apparent that he's not a great story-teller. He should stick with covers.

What, you werent thrilled with the 400th "anniversary" issue? "Hey, lets introduce the next sizzling hot star of the mutant universe, sure to be a major player for the next 100 issues of Uncanny... Stacy X! And lets start a storyline about sex and prostitutes! GREAT IDEA!" Well, then there was always the thrilling 450th issue focusing on... X-23. Yeah, it would be pretty hard for UXM #500 to be worse than those...

Yea I would love that. It doesn't have to be some big epic battle, doesn't have to be some major change just give me a great reflection issue. A lot of my favorite issues are ones like that. Since it's Uncanny, it would need to be the Originals. I'd make love to the writer who did that. Male or Female I don't care.

Yeah, that's... pretty bad. Reminds me of the time in college when our team motto that year was "benevolently ruthless," so we had that printed on the backs of the team shirts and were all discussing how great they looked... until someone took a closer look and said, "Uh, guys, I don't think Kenyon is really going to be frightened by how 'benevolenty ruthless' we are."

Don't blame me- coach said the theme of that year was smiling to their faces and then kicking their asses... that was the best we could do. I did prefer the girls' team's Guns 'N Roses-inspired slogan senior year: "You wanna antagonize me? Antagonize me, mother******! Get in the ring, mother******, I'll kick your ****ing ass!"

WOW! What a cool cover. I don't know if I like it or not though...
Emma = Wolverine in that pose. All she needs is the claws! I don't like Domino's TRIANGULAR eye thing, its cool when its an oval. Turner's Emma looks too much like his generic woman, but whatever, its cool.
Shatterstar still fails to do anything for my figurative taste buds.
Bishop, aw, poor baby.
Iceman suped up, Angel lookin' ANGELIC, Beast feralized, Scott I don't remember...nice stuff. Cool cover.

Just wanted to mention that to me, Bishop has been looking pretty consistent these past few years despite artistic changes...ever since his look changed with Kordey on X-Treme, he's been looking the same pretty much (face wise).
Here, looks like Turner just drew the token black male...I don't see Bishop in that at all. Kind of how like today, it's the hairstyles and colors that make characters, not their faces.

Wait... I just noticed that Beast has hands. Isn't he supposed to have paws now? Or have all Marvel artists made a deal where they're just going to graaaadually bring back ape-Beast so slowly, we don't even notice?
Because if so, carry on.

Im talking about generally, Bishop has become the bulky, broody, black, buff guy, with the enhanced African features (which is just a broad term to indicate the full lips, chocolate skin, wide nose, etc.)...here, he seems to me like the Pharrell Williams pretty boy kind of guy.

Oh, you guys will be happy know that the final version of the cover has "variant" spelled correctly. The coloring has also been fixed a bit- it looks a bit lighter in areas. I'll try to post a picture later, but its late and I'm exhausted. If you go to aspencomics.com, and go to their store page, its on that main page. :)

You know, I look at an image like that and all I can think is, "And some people PREFER him with metal wings?!?" Truly awesome.
I preferred him blue and with metal wings -- but it wasn't a fighting power/appearance based preference. Rather, I thought he was more interesting as a character who had it all, lost a lot of it, and was now selfishly indulging in self-pity.
I don't like it when he's written as generic goodlooking nice guy rich super-hero. I like him subtly screwed up.
