JLA/Avengers Question

Hey, I just re-read my JLA/Avengers and I was just wondering where it fit into continuity. Did this actually take place or was this just one big Whay If? in a way? If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.

I don't think it is ment to be in continuity as such, more in terms of Avengers continuity than JLA because Kurt Busiek spun a story out of it in a JLA arc he did (I didn't read it so I don't really know what happened).

Though in the recent Grandmaster Handbook entry references the story as happening in the characters history, but I think the events themselves went back to normal at the end of the story.

I think it happened and was erased within Avengers continuity, but that's just my theory.

I think that's what cased Scarlet Witch to become unbalanced, channeling all that chaos energy on another world. It makes more sense than any other explination that's been given so far.
