Hey just like my God of War 2 thread, I thought I might make a Metal Gear Solid 4 thread cuz I just beat tehe third one and loved it. Okay to kick things off, I dont knoow if you guys know but in MGS4 you play as old Snake right? Well after looking at Old Snake and Solid Snake, the game maker put the eyepatch on the :eek: WRONG SIDE!!!:eek: see for yourself...

Well after looking at Old Snake and Solid Snake, the game maker put the eyepatch on the WRONG SIDE!!!

A) Old Snake isn't wearing an eyepatch
B) Those are two different people

In MGS4 you'll be playing an aged Solid Snake.

In MGS3 you played Big Boss. 1960s super-soldier and Snake's genetic "Father".

2 different people. The digital "eyepatch" that Snake wears in MGS 4 is to introduce a level of similarity between Father and Son.

Main reason is that it is supposed to be only for PS3. I have no intention of spending that much on a system even though I like PS2 the most out of all the systems currently out.

I’m not sure why but seeing snake so old really bothers me. I wasn’t overly impressed with the last installments of the metal gear series. I also hate that they rehash the games later with a directors cut.

Absolutely. Have you played MGS on the original Playstation or MGS:Twin Snakes for the Gamecube? It's all practically essential to the plot.

Get the third one. The one with directors cut so you have any problems with the camera. Its call Metal Gear Solid 3:Subsistence. I heard it was a prequel of the first two.

I will purchase a ps3 just to play this game. I am jealous of webhead and at the same time pity the poster. I am jealous because he or she, sorry I don't post on this forum enough to know, is going to experience the Metal Gear games with fresh eyes as he or she plays through it for the first time. I also kind of pity him or her, because Metal Gear solid 3 really is the best of the bunch so that may diminish the sheer joy that is Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2. Either way this is a good thread and has brought back many fond memories for myself. Thank you web head for that experience.:)

I never cared for the series...it was just too full of Japanese Metaphysical Hooey to really hold my interest. When I want stealth action I just reach for Splinter Cell; it's much more my speed.

I'm not saying it's a bad series; I just prefer Western storytelling to Japanese storytelling. Even if I were to get a PS3 (which I'm not), it wouldn't be for MGS4.

I like that theory but I would find it great that Sony would make it for the gamecube too so I can enjoy both Super Smash Bros and Kingdom Hearts franchises.Along with the God of War,Super Mario,Metal Gear Solid,Legend of Zelda franchises.These games are the reason I want a Ps3 and a Wii.

That said, the MGS franchise could use a special edition boxed set of remakes/re-releases (including all the pre-1990 games) to bring newbies fully up to speed on the plot, the storyline and the characters.

They DID come out with a DVD detailing each Metal Gear game in chronological order, but it was an extremely rare item that was packaged with Subsistance for Gamestop. My local Gamestop only had 3.... THREE!! WTF?!

Yeah, as you can tell, I didnt get a copy.

EDIT: Oh yeah, its called Metal Gear Saga Vol.1. You can find it on eBay, if youre willing to pay that much for it. I'm considering it.

MGS is the best. I can't wait to play MGS4. I probabaly won't be able to get a PS3 on the spot but I'll buy the game even if it's just to add it to the collection. And eventually when I get a PS3 I'll be able to play it. The trailers for the game are just excellent.
From what I've seen it's not so much that Snake has aged. It's the Fox-die virus that's aged him. Thats why Campell and the others still look relatively young compared to Snake.
Hey, Webhead I suggest you get to play MGS and MGS2 before MGS4 since I'm sure there's going to be a lot of continuity and story elements you wouldn't want to miss out.

The only thing I'm sorta dissapointed in is that besides this recent trailer, they've been pretty lacking in the humor department. Which is weird for an MGS trailer.

I'm just glad that we're finally getting a real SEQUEL.

I was really dissapointed that after the massive cliffhangers in MGS2, that we were given a prequel.

MGS3 was great though. Definately the best gameplay in the series.

Though I'd definately say it had the weakest story of the three. Except those last few hours.

Just a tip for anyone who hasnt played MSG3.

I think the changed camera persective in MSG3: Subsistance added a great amount of value to the game. Get Subsistance if you can. Online play is a bonus for getting it as well.

Anyone agree with the camera thing? disagree?
