That is the Lizard.

Very cool. Wonder if this issue will focus mostly on Beast and Angel then. And if like X-Men: The Hidden Years, it will tease about Beast's suppressed feral side. :D

Jeff Parker is well known on the Marvel Adventures books. Now my question to you all if Marvel chooses to slap the all ages tag on this book would that prevent you from buying it?

I'd still buy it if it carried the all-ages tag. Hell, I still buy Jughead Digest from time-to-time. Personally, I wish more books in Marvel's (and DC's) regular lines were all-ages books.
My main concern is with Roger Cruz handling the art. I usually like his tuff, but he seems mismatched for this project.

Nope. But I doubt they will given it's in continuity. I would love them to launch a new 'X-Men Adventures' book though, which wasn't tied to canon and was just a fun read every month... like the current Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, and Avengers Adventures books. :)

WOW! I love that! Especially the map in the background. Very trendy and cool. Beast looks so cool.
Roger Cruz? Yeuch. Not a good idea.
I'd buy it if it was all ages. I agree with Beast, Marvel Adventures X-Men would be fun.

I'd actually be more likely to buy it marked All-Ages than Mature-Only. All MA means to the writers is that they can drop the F-bomb and throw a boob in. I want something I can be able to have my kids grow up on, too, without having to weed through them.

Yeah, but we know it's not going to be a MA book.

Holy wow. Wow. Wow.
These are the best covers ever. Beautiful modern craft meets classic fanboy geekout.

i thought the first cover was alright but i have to admit not really caring much for this second one.
Awesome cover. I love the costume designs... would be cool to see them used on the current x teams.

The Original five going up against a Spider-Man villain? I was going to ignore this series but now I'm interested.

The covers are pretty, but I'm annoyed they felt the need to change the classic costumes as a retcon. I'm not confused here, am I? They're actually going to claim that these revised costumes are their original costumes, right?
In any case, the originals--as outdated as they may seem now--are design classics. If someone wanted to tweak them to look slightly more practical or whatnot, they could have done it in a way that was truer to the basic design.
The updates are cool, but slap 'em on the team now. Don't rewrite history for them.
And yeah, Roger Cruz--?! At least TRY to maintain the tone and era, y'know?
I didn't think that the costumes were a retcon... I kinda figured that they were just another option the team had that they could wear. I hope its not a retcon cos I love the original costumes.

Can anyone tell me what exactly X-Men: First Class is? Is it supposed to be like the Untold Tales that the X-Men had? Is it supposed to be what happened between X-Men #66 and Giant-Size X-Men #1, like Hidden Years? Is it in continuity? I think the whole costumes thing is really throwing me off.

It supposedly takes place in between issues of the original series, similar to Untold Tales of Spider-Man. It didn't rewrite continuity, it added to it. Whether or not this series does the same remains to be seen.

That's a pretty cool cover, i'm still not sure whether i'll pick up this series... I'll wait and see what the previews look like.

I like the way the Lizard looks, but the X-Men on the cover seem kind of generic. They look like they could be any Silver Age superheroes.
