Hello,
I'd like to get some feedback from the members of this forum as to what you'd list as the top 10 best DC comic books. They don't have to be milestones, but they could be if you really thought that's what made them great. You don't have to post 10 either, if you can only think of a few that you'd list.
Discussion and arguments are welcome.

Off the top of my head...
Morissons JLA (also his allstar Supes, his Animal Man...)
Watchmen
all of Preacher
Sandman
Transmetropolis
Invisibles
Moores' Swamp Thing

Kellys Action Comics run (especially 775 and 800
And I've already thought of half the next 10...

This is a lot harder for me than the Marvel list, since DC has been around much longer, and since I don't have a deep knowledge of early DC. But I'll try, and my list will be slanted toward modern times:
1. New Teen Titans #38 ("Who Is Donna Troy?")
and in no particular order:
Adventure Comics #353 ("The Doomed Legionnaire")
Christmas with the Super-Heroes #2 (numerous quality stories)
Detective Comics #439 ("Night of the Stalker" and a Manhunter chapter)
Flash vol. 1 #123 ("Flash of Two Worlds")
Green Lantern #76 ("No Evil Shall Escape My Sight")
Justice League of America #200 ("A League Divided')
Sandman #19 ("A Midsummer Night's Dream")
Superman vol. 1 #149 ("The Death of Superman")
Watchmen #6 ("The Abyss Gazes Also")

A few off the top of my head (not counting graphic novels, limited series, and Vertigo titles):
Adventure Comics #432 - "The Anguish of the Spectre"
Probably the best of the sick and twisted Fleischer/Aparo Spectre stories from the Bronze Age. This title goes places that a Marvel Max title would think twice about approaching today. The true essence of the Spectre of Vengeance gets played up in this issue as one criminal is cut in two by a giant pair of cutting shears and a criminal/model is aged to death before a watching audience.
Batman #422 - "The Many Deaths of Batman p.1"
The entire issue contains two words as all of Gotham reacts with shock and dumbfounded expressions at the revelation that Batman has been killed. Of course, he comes back next issue.
Dr. Fate #24 - "The Endless End"
A synopsis of the full Doctor Fate history as told by the Phantom Stranger as a bedtime story to a young girl.
Green Lantern/Green Arrow #76 - "No Evil Shall Escape My Sight"
The big moment that shakes up Hal's formerly simplistic view of right and wrong and also establishes Green Arrow as the social justice karma police of the DCU. Well done characterization, and that run-in with the black man on the roof always floors me.
New Teen Titans #39 - "Crossroads"
Terra joins, Robin and Wally West quit, Donna Troi assumes leadership. As the team dynamic begins to change, we're suddenly given a stronger sense of the family that it's been all along. Robin's going away speach and the reactions that follow always make me a bit sentimental. This was the Titans at their best, characterization-wise. Perez's art is overwhelming.
Superman (vol. 2) #75 - "Doomsday!"
Okay, so the death of Superman was a cheesy promotion, but that doesn't stop this issue from bringing a tear to my eye every time I read it. Though Doomsday didn't deserve the honor of taking Supes out, the treatment was fantastic...a worthy exit for the greatest comic book legend of all time, even if it wasn't intended to last.
Wonder Woman (vol. 2) #225 - "The Mission...is Over"
I could have picked any number of Perez or Rucka issues to highlight, but this is just a perfect issue. It sums up everything that makes Diana amazing as even the gods she worships can't help but idolize her in some small way.
World's Finest Comics #172 - "Superman and Batman -- Brothers?"
I'm only thinking of this one because I read it last night. Just a quintessential Batman/Superman story that carefully explores their differences, provides them with one of their emotionally richest teamups of all time, and ends with a powerful and unexpected turn of events. Amazingly well done.
I'm sure there are a ton more, but here's what I came up with at midnight on a week day :)

What were these cancelled books? I love Manhunter, so maybe I'd like to hear your other favorites.
Every book gets cancelled eventually. Just like every TV series. Everything comes to an end. What were these prematurely aborted masterpieces?
