View Full Version : New X-Men...whats to be done with the others.

Doubtless, aside from the seven that make up the main New X-Men roster there are some great characters who have now slunk to the background. What should be done with them?
Some people have suggested they form a juniour varsity squad....Who likes this idea....who should be on it?
Let the general discussion about the New X-Men background characters commence
Background characters: Anole, Match, Wolfcub, Indra, Stepford Cukoos, Nezhno, Onyxx, Bling, Trance, Pixie, Loa, Ernst, No Girl, Hisako, Blindfold,

Everyone of them will get an issue dedicated to them I heard. I heard also that in each issue focusing on each student they will Get a Bullet in their Heads
Should be fun.

You know who I'm really interested in? Ernst. Like, that whole thing needs to be cleared up. In Morrison's run, during "Here Comes Tomorrow" and "Planet X" we discovered that Ernst + Martha, the floating brain, was Cassandra Nova, right? But now we have an Ernst running around, AND a Cassandra Nova running around now. I think this needs to be cleared up once and for all.
As for the other students, I'd like to see more use of the Stepford Cukoos, because I find them interesting and fun. I guess they'll get the spotlight with Phoenix: Warsong, but I'd like to see them in a school enviornment too.

Honestly, there aren't really that many left that really interest me anymore. They kinda killed off a lot of the student body I was interested in. :o
I'd rather just see most of them jump into the main squad down the line, with Anole, Loa, and Trance at the head of the pack. :)
Just say no to Onyxx. ;)

There are now 26 students of which 7 are on a squad. Let's devide the others in 3 squads again and give each squad some extra spotlights in the X-books.
I'm not really sure what all can be done with Loa powers-wise. She's almost as inherently destructive as Wither.

I want to see Blindfold more proeminent in this book if she survives Astonishing. The same goes to Hisako.

The rest of the kids should split into two groups. 27 kids survived Decimation. 2 have died so far - Wallflower and Quill.
That leaves us with 25 kids - 7 on the main squad.
That leaves us with 18 kids. 2 groups of 9 with Anole and Match as team leaders. (Not including Quentin Quire)
I also want to see more Trance, Loa, and Nezhno. Blindfold and Hisako too if/when Whedon lets them go.
These are my teams:
Anole
Indra
Cuckoo
Cuckoo
Cuckoo
Ernst
Martha
Hisako (Needs a codename)
Blindfold
Match
Quentin Quire (Back in his old body somehow)
Loa
Trance
Bling!
Onyxx
Nezhno
Pixie
Wolf Cub (dies)
Wither (Want him on main squad)
Icarus (want him on main squad)
I want Preview back. You would think it's obvious I would want this but at this stage I want her completely out of what's going on right now in the book. The longer she stays away from all this carnage, the better. I want her to come back in an arc that would dedicate time for a sweet return story, be it just herself or with other kids gaining their power back. So, just let her sit on the sidelines for now is what I'm saying....I can hold out...:)

I still say that this is all part of the Danger Room sequence set up at the beginning of C&C's run, remember that? They made a big deal about it, and then it was dropped very quickly, almost forgotten about. The end of this is going to be the team that "survives" will be the premiere squad.

I don't think they will do that. I remember the serie Dallas pulling a stunt like that in the 80's. A whole year nebver actually happened because of 'a dream'. This costed them half of their vievers and that stunt was never pulled again. If we as fans would be reading this series for a year, what afterwards is gonna be an exirsize, many fans will drop the book 4 sure. We should ask Joe!

I'm not talking about it being a dream. I'm talking about it either being
a) part of the training scenario that Emma had set up, where any of the students who "died" are actually "out" of the team. Do you really think that Emma would have something as simple as "last man standing" to determine. C'mon, she's a master manipulator.
or
b) the program that David "Prodigy" Allerdyce started is still running amok, and they don't realize they haven't left the Danger Room.
The reason why I put them in spoilers are that even though they are just theories, I have a good confidence that I am right. I figured out that Cable was Nathan Summers after reading X-Factor #69, and figured out that Bastion was Master Mold and Nimrod pretty much right off the bat. So, I'm putting it like that so that people that don't want to read theories have the choice. I like to err on the caution.

There are just too many sequences already, like Nimrod going back to Forge and O.N.E carrying out all the prisoners, for everything that happened just to be a danger room scenario. It's not totally impossible like you said, but more likely than not, what has happened has really happened.

Was Jessica on the bus, Volk?
Hell no Finny! Before the Decimation wave hit, she had a massive yet vague premonition, her biggest one yet. She saw breif glimpses of her friends dying, a bus on fire, and a missle. After HoM, she said "I need to get the hell out of here." Unfortunately her sister Sarah always had to do the opposite of what she did so she stayed and well...R.I.P. lol
Being serious though, I hope she's not really blind, but I can see how that she really could be. It all depends really. It's just something that bothers you when you like the 4th stringers (for some reason or another) and you don't know why it bothers you so much that they aren't starring but yet, you completely understand why they're not - because they're 4th stringers!:p
Ask Faded about Wicked (I think it is) or Hi-Fi - hell, anybody who's ever Heart'ed an obscure character and you'll get the same passionate yet angry response! But that's the love!

I think the remaining students should follow the mysterious "DSL" character who will be later revealed as Emma and Scotts son from the distant past... yes past... and they will wear very ugly costumes and be very very violent for no reason at all.:) Lol.
Actually, I think that the Cuckoos, Match, Hisako, Anole, Trance, Wolf Cub, and Indra should actually stay at the mansion and act as reserve New X-men. Each character represents someone else from the original New Mutants;
Cuckoos- Moonstar/Karma
Match-Magma
Hisako-Cannonball
Anole-...ummm... I don't know... maybe Cypher if they make him really smart
Trance-Magik (Trance needs to have her power explored more. Although I'd probably give her psionic damage instead of energy since Astral Forms are psionic entities of yourself)
Wolf Cub-Wolfsbane
Indra- Sunspot (but let's not make him gay... please... too many deformed gay mutants and other characters...
Anyway, I think it would be an interesting approach to take these students in.:)

Hey guys i sent Chris Yost a message and graciously he replied to a few of my questions
Thanks for the kind words. We understand that for a lot of people, the transition was (and still is) rough, to say the least. We hope people hang in there, though - so much great stuff is coming.
1) What are Nezhno's powers and will they have any effect on the plot?
Nezhno will be seen again in 29, and you'll learn a little more about his background. His powers won't be a story unto themselves, but it's going to come up, and will be an issue. There's a reason Emma excused him from the infamous free for all.
2) Is there a more reflective less action orientated arc in the works?
There will be some time to reflect in 32, then things get a little crazy again. Although the arc will have a little more room to breathe than the NEXT one.
3) What (if anything) can you tell me about your plans for my favourite character Anole? He is well loved on the boards.
Anole shows up in 29 and 30, and then again after Nimrod. We like Anole, too, and will be seeing more of the other students next year/after Nimrod.
Thanks for reading!!
C
This clearly indicates to me that Anole is there to stay. HOORAH! I like the direction of the book overall...and im encouraged by Mr Yost's reply.

My man David is still alive and still trying to figure out what was going on. The only one who thought these guys felt like they had advanced knowledge. Even took a bullet for my other favorite New Xmen the Cuckoos. I really thought he was gonna bite it in this. I would be surpised if the book didn't end up with the "New X-men" x-forcing it out on their own. If I were a student and my teachers couldn't keep 50% of our class alive, I think I would be looking at my options. By the way, they really need to get the 198 out of Xavier's. they just get in the way. I mean, I was bothered that they weren't shown fighting Stryker's group. Its a really annoying piece of continuity thats been bothering my enjoyment of other X-stories.

Well, I guess dying is slightly more extreme:rolleyes: than how my graduating class thinned out. Half the girls in my school got pregnant. But, I would like to see an issue where someone doesn't die, and see them perhaps deal with losing all their other friends, and then I can tell if I'm going to like their new direction. So far, I'm not.
