Occasionally, music will be used to insult or put down someone or something that the artist doesn't like or just disagree with. What's your favourite?

Mine: In American Pie, Don McLean slams the Rolling Stones pretty hard, in particular for the whole Altamont fiasco.

Eminem slamming Michael Jackson in some his songs and particularly one of his songs and video, Just Lose It.

Several lyrical references to Michael being a child molestor. In the video Eminem dressed as Michael loses his fake nose on the dance floor and later is seen on a bed with a bunch of kids.

It's certainly not my favorite, but there was the Lynyrd Skynyrd/Neil Young clash where Neil slammed them with the song "Southern Man" and Skynyrd countered with "Sweet Home Alabama."

The other one that comes to mind is Pavement's "Range Life" where they make fun of the Stone Temple Pilots and The Smashing Pumpkins.

Pretty much anything by Dylan, especially "Positively Fourth Street".

I really enjoyed the Jay-Z / Nas feud, actually. It was childish and slightly ridiculous, but it did gave us "Takeover" and "Ether".

"Smashing Young Man" by Collective Soul on their self-titled second album is (supposedly) about Billy Corgan being an a-hole and trying to tell every new music act of the early/mid 90's how they should act and sound.

Queen's "Death on Two Legs (Dedicated to...)". (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_On_Two_Legs) About the most artful hate song ever.

Didn't Neneh Cherry write a song just to dis Lenny Kravitz?

Vanilla Ice and 3rd Bass used to go at each other in their raps.

There was also the infamous John Lennon vs. Paul McCartney tell-offs in "How Do You Sleep?" and "Let Me Roll It."

3rd Bass also dissed the Beastie Boys and vice versa.

"There's one big oaf, who's bigger than plastic. The dictionary definition of the word spastic."
