Hey, I didnt see a thread on this yet. What did you guys think? I thought it was a good issue. Of course, I seem to be the only one enjoying this series right now. The story seems to be developing into something big right now, with the Pentacle starting to sacrifice people to the Lord of Light (not sure if he had a name.) The Shadowpact tried to stop them and failed miserably. Its nice to see that even if they are the heroes they are still losers. Oh, and one thing that got me was when Bagman mentioned that the Shadowpact was very similar to the Penatcle, and each member seemed to have a counter-part. So maybe the "evil-twins" arent The Pentacle, but instead the Shadowpact! Ah, hell, I dont even know what Im talking about.
Anyway, what are some other thoughts on this issue? Did anyone even read it?

Without giving away the details - anybody just find it boring?
Like there is NO suspense. Does anyone doubt these boring villians will be defeated? So there is a big bad - get one with it, already.
Off my list unless some true drama surfaces. It's all cliches.

Kind of a letdown, but I'll stick with it for now.
I was hoping for a book that would explore the magical side of the DCU, but here he goes and traps them in a bubble for a year.

Good point. It's like 52 - an intense focus on Montoya and Booster Gold. Who cares - the interesting thing was the effect of the crisis on major players across the DCU.
The Shadowpact should have investigated the magical realms and not fight some unknown minors.
The plot device of all the DCU magic users can't penetrate the bubble, even high end ones like the PS - oh, give me a break.

This is my first magic book and I'm kind of sad it looks like a story I've read about every other super group ever made. hopefully there's something useful coming in the next issue.
Are these doppleganger characters people that have been around for a while that I just never heard of? or were they just made up for this story?

I like it so far. but I'm not hot on Willingham's drawing of Ragman. He looks like a complete joke, and was drawn way better in the Day of Vengeance mini.

I'm interested in the story, for the sake of the characters, but hopefully, the story will start to do more than give us these generic archtypes and scenarios. I agree with Captain Smith, these type of heroes should be going to different dimensions ala Marvel's Exiles than fighting menaces just to the DCU.

Yeah, feh. Willingham's a good writer, and I've got some lingering fondness for Blue Devil, Nightshade, and Enchantress that makes me want to see them handled well -- but this is just boring go-through-the-motions superheroing.
I actually thought the last page was pretty surprising, with the poor Detective Chimp captive and about to be tortured. It sort of hammered home just who are the good and evil guys.
Not a book for the little kiddies, that's for sure.

Couldn't have said it better...
