What does everyone think of this series? I picked it up on a whim and found it fairly enjoyable. Right now I'm debating whether or not I should continue picking it up. I'm new to DC...so tell me...how does this stack up alongside the company's other cosmic style stories?

I think you're in good hands with Ion unless being unaware of previous continuity is going to bother you, because I think (and this is just a theory) previous events are going to factor heavily into the problems Kyle is having controlling his powers.

While it's not the first book I'd recommend to a DC newbie, it's certainly a really solid book. So far and I love the art. Also, I love god-like characters for some reason... The Spectre, Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen...

Overpowered God-like characters take the superhero theme of great power/great responsibility and stretch it to the limit.

Hopefully if sales keep up DC will make it an ongoing and hell...I always loved the Rayner character. He was a normal guy trying to do right. Now he's got all this power ect ect.:D

Kyle Rayner was my favorite Green Lantern. I've only managed to get Ion #2 so far, but I definately didn't hate it.

I quite like Ion. Especially the art. I think #1 was better than #2 because I'm actually rather interested in Kyle's life in the commune, but I'm definitely enjoying the book a lot.

Issue 1 left me pretty cold, but issue 2 I really liked. I will stick around for a few more issue anyway to see where it is going.

I wish the artwork was better.

... @ least he's not a "GL" anymore.

i'm really enjoying this book so far. i thought the art improved dramatically from the first to the second issue, though i must confess that i wasn't turned off by the artwork in the first issue as much as some other fans were.

i have a feeling i might want to dig out the back issues to reaquaint myself with Kyle's previous run of godhood during his GL days.

I guess I'm the odd man out here as I have desided to drop it as of issue #2. I like Kyle and had no problem with him replacing Hal as a Green Lantern but this series has done nothing for me.

ditto, except I ditched it after issue one. I rather like the current Lantern titles over Ion. Therers just to many better titles out there in general as well as in the DC lineup to justify picking it up month after month, in my opinion of course. :p

I had no issue with Hal being replaced, especially given what he'd become post-Crisis, but Kyle was even worse! If they'd just brought Jon Stewart in, and made him THE Green Lantern, it would've been a great deal more interesting to me!

Hey, biggsdacat here, newcomer to the boards. I didn't see a place to introduce myself, so I thought the next best place to do so would be the place where I made my first post. If there is a place in which I can do so please let me know. I consider myself to a longtime comic book fan, with no real attachment to any comic book company. But as with most people I am most familiar with DC and marvel. I've been a bit out of touch recently, but not to the point where I have absolutely no idea about what's going on, it's the specifics of the events that have eluded me. I try my best to be as objective as possible, and I am very willing to have knowledge kicked my way. My favorie characters are darkseid and thanos, and I have followed them for a long time, though i am by no means a fanboy of either, of anyone for that matter (fanboys just tire me out). And I love a good, friendly, respectful, intelligent debate. Enough of that crap onto my post.

I actually have a question regarding ion. I was going to start a thread on this, but I saw this thread on ion so I decided to put it here. I haven't read hardly anything about ion, and I know very little about him. I was just wondering if someone could give me a little info on his base power set, and his recent appearances. Maybe a little info on some of the feats he has performed. Just general info pretty much. If it's a bother, that's cool, I can get off my lazy ass and do it myself, but this just seemed more useful/easier.

Totaly agree with Ontir on this, Jon as main GL would have been great. No problem with replacing Kyle or anything just bringing back Hal as good as he was is just lazy.

I also love the God types, and recently finished finding all The Spectre with Hal as Specy. I am utterly confused as to why this book was dropped.

It went from strength to strength, it didn't rely souly on the GL or Paralax continuity it produced amazing stories and set up some incredable ideas with interesting characters and even tried to make sense of all the DCU's magic and gods stuff.

DC, you're a mess.

Simply putb god like characters bore me. I liked Kyle better as a GL.

God like characters might bore you, but god like characters with serious mental and emotional problems excite the hell out of me. Im going to pick up Ion #3 on wednsday and see where they lead this story to. This plus GLC, and we are seeing a new age in how the Guardians act toward the universe.

It was dropped because it sold terribly. So, while you may have enjoyed Hal as The Spectre, few other people did, whereas the current Hal as Green Lantern book is selling extremely well.
