I just re-read this in trade form and there were some good moments, primarily in the last two issues but Im confused as to who actually died.
Hourman and Dr. Midnite? I thought they were still running around with the JSA or is that new people? And the rest of the JSA - was their aging reversed after zero hour?
Also Wally West, I didnt think he died but apparently he did? or did they bring him back and explain it away in the next few months?
and who was power girl's baby?

Wally didn't die but, I believe, was sent back in time. What happened to him was covered in The Flash #0 and the resulting Terminal Velocity story arc in his title.

Of the JSA Dr. Midnight I, Atom I, and Hourman I all were killed by Extent. The Dr. Midnight in JSA is the 3rd person to have that name.
With Hourman (Rex Tyler) it gets a little more complex. Hourman was supposed to die in the battle with Extent, but at the exact moment of his death he was taken out of time by the timetraveling android Hourman III and put in a little time bubble. He was saved for 1 hour in the bubble. His son Hourman II (Rick Tyler) was able to go into the bubble and talk and spend time with his dad as sort of a gift from the android Hourman. Time did not move in the bubble unless Hourman II was there so he was very careful to only go in for a few minutes at a time as to not use the whole hour up. Then things went all to hell. Hourman II was mortaly wounded in the Black Reign storyline where the JSA took on Black Adam and his squad. Hourman II went into the bubble and before his dad knew what he was doing switched places with him sending Hourman I back out into real time and Hourman II staying the timeless bubble. Only problem was Hourman II was the only one who could come and go out of the bubble so they could not get back to him. They finally with the help of the android Hourman III were able to get Rick out of the bubble and save his life but in doing so used up the rest of the hour so Hourman I was about to slide back to the moment of his death at the hands of Extent. The Android Hourman then took Hourman I's and place in the time stream and was destroyed by Extent instead of Rex. So now both Hourman I and II are alive and well in the DCU, and Hourman I is slowly rebuilding Hourman III.

The DC ENCYCLOPEDIA was beautifully packaged, but poorly edited. The old 1980s WHO'S WHO series was far superior in terms of actual information collection and presentation.

Yep, and from that storyline, the Speed Force was identified and named as a distinct entity for the first time. Up until then, Mark Waid had subtly hinted at the existence of such an entity, but this was when the Speed Force was first fully fleshed out and developed.

Tell me about it I find plenty of gramical errors and missing heroes.
A few errors include pg. 141 Don Hall was never Hawk, pg. 299 Supergirl #1 (3D series)?, and pg. 183 it's Matthew Ryder not Matthew Rider. Sorry but I can't help but spread the knowledge of these errors.

Also, in the Anima entry, the person in the picture they identify as Anima is actually her friend Liv. There were more but I can't remember right now

The casualites of the Zero Hour were:
Atom(al pratt)
Dr. Midnite
Hourman
Team Titans (except Deathwing,Mirage,and Terra)
Legionaires
Batgirl from an alternate timeline

Actually, Rex is now *building* Hourman III/1 Million. Remember: Rex was III's maker, so since III came back from the future and died in the present day...it might seem like he's being rebuilt, but really Rex is starting the project that will result in the original Hourman 1M.
Gotta love them time paradoxs... ;) :p

Wow you're right, so Hourman 1Mil was never actually designed or built. He's only been repaired.

I supose that you have to count the entire Legion of Super Heroes timeline in this too. Not just ever member of the Legion but also everyone else involved in that series over the years was completly wiped out due to Zero Hour. The whole series was started from scratch after Zero Hour with a complelty new timeline.

They didn't actually die they were just written out of continuity.

1. It's ExtAnt. Not Extent. Extant. With an "A". Sorry, but that common typo drives me nuts. It's an adjective for "currently existing". As in "The extant issues of Batgirl would appear to contradict everything in her Robin appearance".
2. Power girl's baby? Post-Crisis DC didn't really have an origin for Power Girl. The alternate reality she came from no longer existed, and for some reason nobody writing her ever thought to just make her a survivor of that destroyed reality. Instead they decided to give her a new origin. This origin said that she was the descendent of the Atlantean sorceror Arion (who once upon a time had a book that DC wanted to push), who put her in suspended animation, gave her memories of a different origin (explaining why she thought she was Krypton until she "discovered" her "true" origin)... and also... um... somehow magically made her pregnant with a very magical child that was meant to save the world. The son, Equinox, was born during the Zero Hour, was subsequently artificially aged, became a superhero, did his save the world from an ancient evil thing, and disappeared (with fans cheering, jeering, and catcalling. 'Cuz the whole thing reeked).
After Infinite Crisis... it probably didn't happen, or happened then unhappened as a hiccough in reality. She's no longer descended from Arion, was never in Ancient Atlantis, and all that nonsense was the universe trying to make her fit despite her being from an alternate reality.

Why don't they just kill her off and give her implants to Supergirl.

Because Powergirl is a far more interesting character than Supergirl?

Because even with all her strength Supergirl would never be able to get them off the ground?
Because Supergirl's more about showing off the cooch than the cans?
Because she doesn't wanna be drawn as lopsided?
Because Power Girl isn't secretly evil?

Because the way Supergirl's built, PG's boobs would probably break her back and snap her in half?
