Avengers League: Nightcrawler v. unkiedev

Welcome to the next match of the Avengers League! If you haven't been following the league, it is a large scale series of battles where posters draft teams and pit their teams against that of other posters, and you vote to decide who wins. When voting, please consider the strategies the players have written, rather than just the team's roster.

Each match is taking place on an empty battlefield, 100 yards away, and each character (with few exceptions) depicted is in his/her most frequent incarnation (therefore, no Iron Spidey or Extremis Iron Man), and the characters have to act in character (meaning that the heroes cannot kill if they aren't normally wont to do so).

If you have any questions about the strategies, please feel free to post these questions here, and the players will answer. The match will last twenty-four hours. After that time period, the player with the largest number of votes wins.

Nightcrawler's team: Graviton, Blackout, Purple Man, Whizzer, Living Lightning, American Eagle

Nightcrawler's strategy:

Phase 1 (Instantly and simultaneously)
• Graviton gives Dr. Doom a strong gravitational pull. This causes Doom’s team to go colliding into him, stunning them all. Living Laser is the only one who probably won’t be affected by that. Graviton then increases Earth’s gravitational pull on unkiedev’s team, trapping them to the ground. This will probably keep any shields from going up. That is one of Graviton’s most standard moves.
• Graviton then fires a huge energy blast at the Unthinkables. His blasts are the equivalent of 20,000 tons of TNT, so it is easily powerful enough to wipe them all off the field. However, I’ll continue as if they are all still alive.
• Living Lightning engages Living Laser. They are equal in speed and firepower, so their battle could go either way.
• At the start of the match, Whizzer grabs Purple Man. After Graviton’s blast, Whizzer runs Purple Man over to the other team.
• Before they arrive, Purple Man tells Whizzer to put him down by their opponents, then to kill Starfox and not to stop until one of them is dead. If Starfox survived Graviton’s blast, he’ll be hurting. A speedster going all-out on him should be more than he can handle. Whizzer is already controlled by Purple Man, so Starfox won’t be able to use his pleasure powers effectively.
• Purple Man takes control of Wrecker. The guy is an idiot, so it’s no problem for Killgrave.
• Blackout and American Eagle go on defense from the start, double teaming anyone might approach my team. Blackout can pull some Darkforce into the world and have it surround him and Graviton if there is a threat to them. As seen in Avengers #273, not even light can move through Darkforce.

Phase 2
• Purple Man tells Wrecker to kill Sauron. With Wrecker’s strength, one crowbar shot to the head will be enough to take down the pterodactyl. Sauron will be too surprised at his own teammate attacking him to do anything.
• Purple Mann then tells Wrecker to attack Dr. Doom. I don’t expect Doom to lose to him, but he should be too busy defending to attack.
• Whizzer continues his assault, overloading his heart if need be to put Starfox down.
• Graviton flies himself, Blackout, and American Eagle over. Graviton and Blackout shoot energy blasts at the Unthinkables from the air, and American Eagle shoot crossbow bolts. Their target is Venus, and she should go down quickly. The three of them split and engage separate targets.
• American Eagle goes after Grim Reaper. His superior strength and speed, combined with his crossbow shots should allow American Eagle to take the Reaper down quickly.
• Blackout helps Living Lightning fight Living Laser. Not even light can escape Darkforce energy, so the Laser should fall quickly to the two-pronged attack.
• If Starfox is still up, Graviton blasts him. From that close of a range, not even Starfox can survive. If Starfox is down, or after he goes down, Graviton engages Dr. Doom. Doom’s shields are strong, but they can’t stand up to the combined might of Graviton and Wrecker’s crowbar. After his shield comes down, Graviton allows Wrecker to attack Doom first, incase of any traps Doom might have. If Wrecker fails to bring Dr. Doom down, Graviton’s blasts finish the job.
• My team mass attacks whoever is left. Purple Man tells Wrecker to kill Mr. Immortal, then himself. He’ll beat himself with his crowbar into unconsciousness.

unkiedev's strategy:

Doom has learned from past mistakes. No longer shall Doom sit in defense, but bids his Unthinkables to ATTACK!

PLAN A: Instantly the LIVING LASER passes through the back of the purple mans skull, killing him. There can be no debate: The Living Laser travels at the speed of light itself. Neither the Living Lightning nor the Whizzer competes. Graviton has no time to put up a shield. The Purple man has no defenses. He is Doomed.

What if Nightcrawler places his speedsters in my path? The Laser is fastest. He can fly circles around them, or pass fatally through them on the way to purple man.

FRANKLY the Living Laser could kill them all, save the Living Lightning. In such a case Venus Would love that lightning up good. Lest some accuse DOOM of being “Cheap” with such an attack, I shall apply back-up plans:

Plan B: Living Laser takes out Purple man. Graviton has shone a weakness for women. NO ONE compares to Venus for beauty or desirability. There has been a question of Venus’s range. BAH! Graviton shall be drawn to her. He must remain in character and he is one horny bastard. As Nightcrawler’s team is a sausage fest, he shall be drawn to her! Venus shall use her magical girdle to render herself irresistible to men. Graviton WILL fall in love with her. Venus shall tell him to stand down and Use his Gravity powers to hold down all opponents of DOOM. Graviton is out of the picture, as are most of Nightcrawler’s boys. The Wrecker’s only job for this part is to run interference for Venus. An attacker of Venus will meet the Wrecker’s bar!

Sauron flies after the American Eagle. Eagle is a formidable foe, yet Sauron’s hypnotic eyes have yet to fail. Sauron can then feed off his energy and get stronger, faster! This is only if Graviton doesn’t have them pinned. If so, Sauron shall commit many a mercy killing!

Living Lightning is a problem. Graviton might not stop him. He may plan on Continuous Lightning attacks. FINE! After Living Lightning is done with purple man He’ll be on Lightning like Loser on that accursed RICHARDS. Plus Starfox, a titan, could withstand many an attack from the Lightning, all the while calming him down with his magical date rape powers. Both Doom’s Armor/shields and Venus’s love aura can protect them momentarily.

I give no argument here: Lightning is powerful. Though Doom, Wrecker and others may fall to him, eventually StarFox can urge him to peace.

Graviton shall suppress both Blackout and Whizzer. Sauron or Grim Reaper can then take them out. Blackout could teleport away from the battle and reappear to attack. As stated previously he is no match for the Living Laser OR the Wrecker shall hurl his crowbar through him. Wrecker vs Blackout? WRECKER. If that does not suffice, and with all other Nightcrawler teammates defeated, DOOM shall grant clemency and allow blackout to surrender.

Again, this is all moot, as Mr. Immortal shall outlive them all. Time shall declare him the winner.

Would Graviton, faced with the most beautiful woman he has ever seen in his life even spend another SECOND thinking of anything else but "Romance"?

-I don't see how Venus is going to attract anyone from 100 yards away. You can't even tell people apart from that range. I don't think Graviton will notice her, let alone fall in love and take orders from her. When as Venus shown a range like that?

-Unkiedev's entire strategy hinges on Venus controlling Graviton. If that doesn't happen, like maybe Blackout blasts her like I have him do in my strategy, Unkiedev's strategy falls apart. He makes no back-up plan to take care of Graviton.

-Unkiedev poses a Blackout v. Wrecker fight. I say Blackout wins, and not just because he is on my team. All Blackout has to do is pull some Darkforce around him, trap Wrecker, and he'd be at Blackout's mercy.

I specifically target Venus. And since Venus is focusing on Graviton, Blackout is free to finish her, or at least distract her enough so she loses control of Graviton and he can blast her.

I don't see how Graviton can simultaneously draw the team to Doom and root them to the ground.

And I know zip, zilch about Venus. Anyone have specific power range info on her?

I voted for Nightcrawler because I think that Graviton's opening attack would work quite well and I'm not sure about Venus's powers working at such long range.

Althoug unkiedev's strategy was far more enjoyable to read but Nightcrawler's was better.

Not so. Passing plays usually take place within 20-30 yards of the quarterback, even hail marys aren't for 100 yards. And even then, the quarterback relies more on the play, of where he knows the players are going to be rather than who they are. He knows where they are supposed to go, and sees players with his colors going there.

I tell you this, though: DOOM has GOT to come up with better plans then he's been hatching so far. For the smartest guy in the Marvel Universe he sure ain't pulling his weight on my team.
